Gaza Strip: palestine: Caritas Jerusalem medical point hit in Gaza strip; children cry, people in freezing weather: and other horrors on the ground

Caritas Internationalis, reports, that a local medical point: treating the people of Gaza: set up by Caritas Jerusalem, has been hit, by what they are calling an Israeli F-16 Fighter Jet. It was one of six points in the area. According to reports, given by the humanitarian umbrella organization: people are in dire situations: having lost everything: many stay in schools. There are stories, of three to a blanket, in "freezing" cold, and of the trauma experienced by children. A quote given from a source on the ground, as Caritas Jerusalem continues to work: feeding 3 000, having given many medical supplies to hospitals; and taking care of minor needs: they say: that Israel has given them the three hour daily window: when they should have given them a door.

A representative of the Humanitarian Organization: Caritas Internationalis: says:

"Thankfully, since all of the families from the homes had already fled the violence and were staying in various schools in the district, nobody was hurt in the bombing.

Indeed, the day after the bombing took place another medical clinic was destroyed by another Israeli bomb. On Saturday, a clinic run by the Middle Eastern Council of Churches in Al-Shuja’ia, east of Gaza City was completely destroyed by another fighter jet.

Not only now have Caritas Jerusalem lost one of their six local medical points in Gaza, but the people of Maghazi are temporarily without medical support and over $10,000 worth of medical equipment was destroyed. Caritas Jerusalem staff are now struggling to stretch their operations to Maghazi from the existing point at Al Mosaddar.

The bombing at the clinic comes at a time when medical supplies are severely depleted throughout Gaza. Since the medical points had decided to focus on minor injuries, thereby freeing up the hospitals for more serious cases, Caritas Jerusalem had already shared much of its stock of equipment to four hospitals. These include such essentials as adrenaline, syringes and alcohol. As the Caritas outlets come under severe pressure, the strain on the already-overloaded hospitals will only worsen.

Fr Manuel Musallam, the Parish Priest of Gaza, said in a telephone conversation from Beit Hanoun this morning, “There are dead bodies lying on the streets. The clinics are carrying out operations on the floor and women have no place to give birth.”"

Conflict in the Gaza Strip reemerged, after Terrorist grouping: Hamas: launched too many missiles into Israel, having shot first, after a 6 month ceasefire: causing public opinion in Israel to favor a counterstrike of the current proportion, or of lesser proportion: so as to stop rocket strikes against Israeli civilians. Israel's government, which was seen as too "soft" on the Gaza Strip issue, by many in Israel, was spurred on by public anxiety: with rocket-fire being aimed at their civilians: so as to launch an assault on the Gaza Strip: not controlled by the Palestinian government: but by Hamas. Israel has been accused of "disproportionate" force: in their response to the attack: by Caritas Internationalis, who also condemn rocket strikes into Israeli: by Hamas (An acronym in Arabic for: Islamic Resistance Movement).

"Project Caritas", the South African wing of Caritas Internationalis, along with other groups,such as the South African Council of Churches, the Southern African Catholic Bishops Conference (whose fund raising organization "Project Caritas" is), and even with partnership in the effort by COSATU (which is a controversial trade union, and has been implicated somewhat, as possibly not unbiased in this: by certain views expressed: against Israel, and in other matters, which cause many not to agree with them, in calls by their leader of being prepared to "Kill" for a Mr. Zuma; and by previous insults of the Ten Commandments, by Union Members, attempting to justify adultery), and the government: have collaboratively arranged for a humanitarian flight to get urgent, medically focused aid into the Gaza Strip. Statements,in a press release, we received by email, inform of what this mainly is focussed on:

"Key items to be dispatched as part of the relief operations include medical equipment, medical supplies, medicines, bottled water, food, baby milk, high energy and protein supplements, mattresses and blankets. These items would be purchased in South Africa from financial contributions made to the various groups involved in the appeal.

It has been agreed that Project Caritas, the official fund raising campaign of the Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference (SACBC) for humanitarian disaster relief would co-ordinate the Emergency Appeal on behalf of the South African Council of Churches."

Caritas Aotearoa (New Zealand branch): recently pledged $ 50 000 (probably their version of dollars, but it does not add NZ in front, so possibly, even likely, it is perhaps: actual dollars) to the situation, and Caritas Internationalis has asked for NZ $3.5 million to deal with the situation.

Caritas Jerusalem is doing work on the ground.

"Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand Director Mike Smith said its sister agency, Caritas Jerusalem, has a long established involvement in Gaza. Caritas Jerusalem will undertake the following:
� provide primary health care services and post-operative out-patient care to Gaza residents through its Caritas Medical Centre, mobile clinic and 6 medical points � assist 4 of the Gaza hospitals in dealing with the crisis, through the provision of medicines and supplies, including 2 ICU ambulances � provide supplementary food parcels to 4,000 families � provide hygiene kits to 2,000 families � provide financial support in the form of cash to 2,000 families and � provide blankets to 1,000 families.
Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand calls for an immediate ceasefire, asking both the Israeli military to cease its attacks on Gaza and Hamas to end its rocket attacks. Caritas Director Michael Smith said "An immediate permanent ceasefire is needed to enable the sick and wounded to be adequately treated. Innocent people are suffering and humanitarian assistance is desperately needed.""

With GPS co-ordinate sharing, and a guarantee from Israel: the United Nations (UN), has decided to re-enter into humanitarian operations in the Gaza Strip. Israel says it will withdraw, when their citizens are safe from terrorism: manifested in rocket-fire into Israel. Both sides, have: as was to be expected: rejected a UN Security Council: call for immediate ceasefire: Israel called this impractical; and with an American Abstention: there really is no reason, practically speaking, except a withdrawal by Hamas: or negotiations which they see as beneficial: for real hope of these efforts to cause Israel to withdraw: as American support, and the pleas of support of their terrorized population: of the operation: means more to Israel; that the United Nations combined.

Caritas Internationalis lauds the 3 hour breaks in bombings, by Israel; however, they want Israel to stop using a "disproportionate" amount of force, but rather, from their statement: it seems: for Israel: to protect their borders proportionately, and they desire rocket-fire from Hamas (actually an acronym in Arabic of "Islamic Resistance Movement") to stop. They have called the UN Human Rights Council: in Geneva; to investigate both sides under International Humanitarian Law.

They also desire a permanent ceasefire on both sides.

Caritas Internationalis; among others call for investigation, and permanent ceasefire

Caritas Internationalis, an Umbrella organization of Catholic relief organizations: has called for an investigation of actions of both sides in the conflict in the Gaza Strip: asking that all violations of International Law on both sides: be investigated: and that Israel stop using a "disproportionate" amount of force to protect themselves, and Hamas stop rocket fire into the Gaza Strip. It has called both sides to respect International Law.

In Catholic doctrine, there is a proportionate amount of force, which one can use to protect themselves. Caritas Internationalis makes this request, for an investigation: to the United Nations Human Rights Council, in Geneva, Switzerland. They have said that the three hour lapses in bombings, by Israel, are a start, but that a permanent ceasefire is needed in the area.

In a small proof: that one must be very careful in choice of words: statements; comparing the Gaza Strip, to a "Concentration Camp": because of the fact civilians are unable to move out: due to conflict, and politics: have caused massive insult.

Cardinal Renato Martino: of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace; has caused Jewish people to say: the comparison: is not fitting; that a concentration camp is worse. The Cardinal later stated; that he also condemned Hamas; and related his statement to the walls: but those who had been in a concentration camp: were not impressed. Pope Benedict; in his state of the world address: again emphasized a need to condemn violence. The Majority of those in the Catholic church are neutral on the matter, with a few officials, and organizations breaking ranks. Israel called the statements by the Cardinal Renato Martino: president of the Ponitical Council for Justice and Peace: Hamas propaganda.

Iran has been accused of possibly funding the wars of Hamas and Hezbolla, by the BBC, in an article on rocket attacks from Lebanon into Israel. France and Egypt, have both been working at a peace deal: in which they had a near miss previously: with Israel accepting conditionally a peace deal, which they did not adhere to, when Hamas (initials for "Islamic Resistance Movement" in the Arabic dialect): rejected these: wanting open borders.

This latest battleground situation: started with seemingly unprovoked rocket-fire by Hamas militants, into Israel: after a 6-month truce. A number of people, including an infant, and a number of buildings, including one for child-care: on the Israeli side: have been hit. Hamas, has in turn: since been hit in outposts throughout the densely populated: Gaza strip: wherein certain sources believe there is a massive humanitarian situation: caused partly by Collateral Damage: on Israel's part, which they claim is because militants purposely fire from civilian areas.

UN (United Nations) officials on the ground: deny accusations by Israel, and by a Canadian newspaper: that there were militants in the area around a UN school. The UN, recently suspended aid in to the Gaza Strip: since an incident where Israeli troops were accused by the UN of shooting at some of their aid workers. We are unsure, what allegedly provoked the alleged attack.

Meanwhile: amongst calls by the ANC's "King maker" allies: COSATU; and by protesters who marched on Parliament yesterday: to call for sanctions against Israel: a Jewish association: has lamented the anti-Jewish sentiment, they believe they are experiencing: in South Africa: and have reminded the seemingly pro-Hamas: ANC controlled: South African government: who it is who started the attack in the first place. Racism, Bigotry, and hate speech, are not uncommon in South Africa; despite constitutional clauses against these. It is more than just possible: that those with a hatred for Jewish culture, beliefs, and people: have been misusing this situation: for their own unconstitutional means.

Often, support for one side of the other, springs from hatred of a culture, or religion, often based on, what many would consider: misleadingly superstitious religious beliefs. I personally, have even seen some who hope there will never be peace in the Middle East: believing that it will warrant the end of the world. These same people often believe the Catholic church to be evil... and many other things: but it is simply more proof, of how biased many viewing the conflict are.

The point is, that because of the location of this battle, and the players in it: and propaganda due to it: there is a harsh situation, whereby those who harbor hatred of one or other group: chose to air it, and those attempting to stop it: need to be careful of how they phrase the situation.

The alleged connection with Iran, is actually quite credible, according to the BBC: who say that Iran makes very little effort in denying accusations from Israel: especially , as credible as the connection between DRC rebels, and the Rwandan authorities: also noted by BBC. Who noted Rwandan troops operating in the conflict area, and these troops: have also been noted as apparently shooting down a UN helicopter in the African nation. Iran itself, desire the destruction of Israel. According to the BBC: they do not want a deal: which prevents smuggling of Iranian weaponry into Palestine.

A possible reason for the way in which Hamas is responding to this situation: could well be tied with the Iranian government. Iran, has no benefit from peace in th Gaza Strip.

Israeli-Vatican tensions have been heightened since the Cardinal Renato Martino: of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, used what can only be a metaphor to concentration camps.

Pope Benedict XVI, has not taken sides: but laments the violence, and civilian casualties. He still has done so: after the statements were made: according to Reuters; making it seem that these were the personal; views of the person who said them: and not the view of the Vatican: who are more concerned with collateral damage, and sustainability of peace: than with who is guilty of what offense: at least: at the moment; such, it appears from the outside: is the case.

The BBC (Secular; British; Government): is reporting that the United Nations (UN), is halting aid into the Gaza Strip, due to an incident, of Israeli troops: allegedly shooting at UN workers.

Condemnations have began to triple in from throughout the world: for Israel; including from Caritas Wales. As they find themselves: in an increasingly difficult political situation, and losing the propaganda war even more badly than before: and in more countries. Israel: also now faces the threat of Hezbolla. Those, who have always desired a genocide against the Jewish people, are looking more and more to have a natural publicity advantage. Somehow: in this region, for the longest time: world media: has always viewed Israel and their surroundings; as though with a different standard.

With this move by the UN in the area, the humanitarian situation can only get worse: but the region, has become a tinderbox: for conflict. The world continues to, and will: it seems: continue to tolerate hate speech, and calls for genocide against a valid people, who have seen this realized, and could in the near future, see this happen again.

Meanwhile: Barak Obama, who has insisted: that he does not want to divide authority in America: between two "Presidents": through advisors: has spoken on the economic crisis in America: hinting that he has politically chosen to ignore the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip; and like the Euthanasia incident: he seems to bear politics, extremely well: but not focus on those on the ground, nor can one absolve him from his vote on allowing infanticide for failed abortions. He bears politics well, but this does not seem good for human rights. In fact, his promises to extend the textbook American Genocide of article 2 section d definition: abortion: and his other historically extreme stances against human rights issues are worrying. His desire to further fund Abortion firm Planned Parenthood, and his choices of appointments: are scary. He seems more focused on Abortion, and promoting such: than on economics: this is only proven in background checks done on his candidates.

At least 40 targets: according to E News (South African; Secular) have been hit in air-strikes today. Protesters, in South Africa marched on Parliament today: calling for a blockade of Israeli goods. Again: largely missing: is notation: that Hamas: is not only the original protagonist , but just as guilty, and insanely callas, as Israel is on this issue.

While a French-Egyptian peace deal continues to be brokered for the area. Any real future peace: needs justice: those on both sides committing, or ordering human rights abuses need to be brought to book. Biased perspectives: offered by many of this situation: need to be ridden away from the scene.

We would like to emphasize: that many media sources on this: are relying on external facts. The BBC; is probably still the best source on this issue. They are also the fastest, in our perspective: at present at getting accurate, or semi-accurate news out of the region.

We still believe there is more to this situation than meets the eye. The strategy of Hamas: is either suicide: or insanity, or else: the moving of a larger body, in a bigger war-plan. The seeming co-ordination apparent: in Lebanon, and Palestine, and the cautiousness of Iran at this stage: seems odd.

We (Social Justice South Africa) still maintain; that both sides need to be pushed towards peace: and any condemnation: must be aimed at both sides, and that a proper investigation, and accountable punishment: of human rights abusers on both sides: must occur: to move forward. Also: the possibility of Iranian funding of this needs to be looked into: if Israel must be condemned, and perhaps others: then accusations of Iranian arms and funding being used: need to be looked into: and Iran should not be allowed to get away with anything like this: if accurate.

Gaza Strip Situation, Middle East: Lebanon Factor: Hezbolla may have entered the fray: at least 3 missiles, maybe five: launched against Northern Isra

BBC World News is reporting that the Israeli and Lebanese authorities confirm the launching of three missiles from southern Lebanon, into Northern Israel: creating a situation: where Israel is now being attacked from both sides: complicating the war: as Egypt, and France, are still attempting a ceasefire between Hamas, and Israel. While three are confirmed, some reports, are said to put it at five, according to the BBC.

The attacks (BBC World News (Secular; British; Government) 08 / Jan / 2009) wounded two Israelis, and shell-shocked others. They follow a rise in anti-Israeli rhetoric, by Hezbolla, and 60 Israeli air-strikes on Hamas in the Gaza Strip, as well as renewed Israeli interest in a ceasefire.

The Previous war between Israel, and Hezbolla: happened on the back of a conflict between Israel, and Hamas: according to BBC World News. Hezbolla, recently became a major threat to Lebanon again, threatening civil war, over objections to spy networks they had amassed.

Hezbolla, like Hamas: is an obstacle to democracy: in the country in which they are based. Both have as a final goal: the annihilation of Israel, and the destruction of her people. Both: have gained what they have: via brute force, and propaganda. Neither group: is a state: both are known terrorist groupings: whose methods almost always involve the actions of terror tactics, and brute force, or calls for violence, and or propaganda: or political maneuvering, or the like.

Meanwhile the president of Indonesia (according to CWNews (Catholic; American; Independent) 07 / Jan / 2009), has called the Israel-Hamas conflict: not religious, but political: a move by a largely (about 88%) Muslim nation, which is a statement, and move of aid, or rather: benefit, and advantage: to Israel: who have been made to face protests by Muslims, which have dotted, or cross-hashed across many nations within the the Global Scene: Canadian versions of such protests, were met by pro-Israeli Protests, meaning that those protesting, represented the two different sides independently: however: protests in the Islamic world have largely been anti-Israeli. This move by Indonesia, which is another move by an Islamic nation: saying that the conflict is political: also is of aid to any peace process, as Israel, whatever their methods, are attempting to protect their sovereignty, something which is endangered by protests and condemnation: which: if aimed only at Israel: further complicate the entire situation.

A new, tougher stance; by Israel's previously more moderate government: may have been shown recently: whether or not the Lebanon missiles were launched by Hamas, or Hamas sympathizers, or by Hezbolla, seems unclear. Further attacks, by terrorists, on the sovereignty of Israel: could result in an even worse situation, within the region as a whole. The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is said to be severe: either caused by efforts, at propaganda: for the world: by Hamas, or by bombings, lack of water, and supplies, and the situation around deaths, and bombings: or by both.

Israel, recently accepted a peace agreement, which Hamas rejected: because Hamas desired open borders. However, since this attack, Hamas has become increasingly open to negotiations: something not apparent in a long time. Condemnations of Israel, out of highly partisan, and politically motivated: pro-Hamas nations, and notably out of South Africa: have done nothing to improve the situation much, rather: diplomacy: is credited with every advance gained for the people of Palestine: with Israel claiming: they will listen to their friends: a hinting that nations which distort the situation as purely their fault: will not be heard.

A reported: high level "Vatican" delegation to the Area, according to Catholic World News: is a myth: the only visit currently, by high level church representation, was already scheduled: and is thought not to be anything in addition. A peace agreement: accepted by Israel, the Palestinian State ("Authority"), Egypt, and France, and proposed by Egypt and France: to halt the catastrophe in the Gaza Strip: has been rejected by Hamas: who are still waiting for borders to open, and sanctions to be dropped.

Hamas, and Israel: are at this point: both open to viewing non-combative solutions, according to CBS: however: any solution must stop Rocket fire on Israel, and Israel apparently wants assurance Hamas will not rearm. Hamas: wants open borders: so that they can communicate with the world, and trade with it.

South African Church to probably lament humanitarian situation; but not condemn either group

Expect a statement from the South African Catholic Bishops Conference, likely in accordance with other groupings: on the dire humanitarian situation on the ground. Despite talking with sources within the church, we remain, and will continue to remain independent. However, we may start publishing articles: covering some statements released by the local bishops, in as independent manner as we always do so: saying when things are us or others. We will however, either vet this, or do as with our emails from VIS, and Fides. We cannot reveal any source as to our statement about the local bishops likely releasing a statement. If our source is accurate, then you will see a statement. This is not due to a request, but due to certain parts of good practice.

Israel claims that Hamas is a terrorist group. This is easily verifiable: any group, which is not a Nation, which takes a territory from a legitimate government, chases away observers, and both fires rockets on civilians, killing indiscriminately, and willfully: injures noncombatants: well: it sounds like a terrorist grouping.

It is claimed that there are large civilian casualties. As verified on the ground, by a Canadian Newspaper; this seems true, as with what they claim: that there are militants in the areas. The UN, however, claims that the attack on the UN school: is unjustified: and denies claims of militants in the area. The UN; being UN representation. Certain representatives of the UN, have periodically done things which are classified as Genocide by the Nations represented in it, again, it has a voice, but International journalists, and an investigation needs to be conducted, before clear facts are established.

Israel is stopping bombing of Gaza for three hours a day: to allow humanitarian aid in. It is thought by some to be due to pressure.

Israel's claims of minimization of Civilian casualties? Well: again; Gaza is densely populated, and Israel claims that Hamas is attempting to get cover from shooting from civilian areas, basically using Palestinians as Human Shields: and at Israeli civilians.

Hamas seems to have the goal of wiping Israel off the map; and does not recognize Israel as a state. A bit of Insider Information, from the anti-apartheid campaign: when someone is arrested: you make as much noise as possible: as it is how to get them out. The same goes for any political source. Exactly what is occuring: is still doubtful: as often: both sides will get as much support as possible from any side viable. In South Africa we have seen organizations supporting "human Rights"; as within the UN itself: being utterly partisan, and seemingly ignoring abuses of such. The UN recently awarded two high level pro-abortion campaigners: awards for their "contribution" to humanity. The UN, is not infallible, and is as partisan as its local structures.

Israel: has of course pointed to other wars, of Western Nations: including that in Afghanistan; and in Iraq: and the what sounded like the Falklands: in attempting to justify attacks.

They still claim: that the moment Israel is safe from rocket-fire: is the moment they withdraw. Their battle is increasingly gaining bad press in some nations: due to a lapse in publicity campaigns: and their propaganda war. When America invaded Iraq: their propaganda war was highly successful: papers across the world: aired their propaganda about "Weapons of Mass Destruction" in Iraq. Israel could have made wiser decisions: the 72 hour truce suggested: to allow in humanitarian aid: an allowance of the BBC or the like of EuroNews: into Gaza: may have done much: maintaining only air-strikes: could also have been more politically wise.

Some politicians: in Israel: desire the annihilation of Hamas from the scene, but the largely "moderate" government in power: still: is only claiming to be attempting to stop rocket fire.

The fact remains: Hamas; is not a government, not democratically elected, not a state, and not sovereign. They have seized the Gaza Strip: by force: from a legitimate government. They have smuggled in weapons, and are attacking civilians daily. An Israeli infant has been reported as a casualty of a terrorist strike. Hamas has chased away international observers, which were meant to watch smuggling: and consistently there is propaganda spewed throughout the Gaza Strip.

Israel itself, either out of distrust, or as they claim: for their safety; or to cover up what is happening: is not allowing in International Journalists.

Israel, has decided to invade a highly populated area: choosing war: rather than sanctions; and limited tactical bombings, or Police work; with Egypt, which could have aided the situation.

This could be partly due to the unfair partisan way in which many nations have treated Israel: this attack: could well be giving them the same press: as sanctions would have had: in many nations.


If Hamas is a terrorist group which they are, and if they are holding the people of Gaza, as media material, or "Human Shields", then this situation, is much the same: as though terrorists had taken a school: how do governments deal with this: via negotiations; via snipers, via tactical force: which is sure: not to hit civilians, if possible, or via arrests, and court appearances, if possible.

I know of; indirectly (I would be ashamed if they were my friends): many people, including South African politicians: who went to Iraq to be human shields, during the Second Gulf War. It is still the duty, of a civilized authority, not to hit human shields: if viable; at least: I don't think they are combatants: even if they are extremely foolish; after all: companies can't saw environmentalists chained to trees apart.

None the less: an immediate ceasefire by Israel: may be impractical, if not politically impossible to achieve.

Diplomacy and a desire to impress, has seen Israel allow humanitarian aid in, has created suggestions of three hour breaks daily, and has resulted in America largely ignoring the current war. This same desire to impress: is being followed by authorities: which were seen as too weak in their positions on Hamas; and have now regained some "credibility", with their constituencies: something which cannot be ruled out: as a cause of their invasion: their counterstrike.

Until an international non-partisan, independent force is allowed to investigate this situation: it is impossible to know where, when or if each side is breaking international law. Yes, direct terrorist attacks do break the law: Hamas: is a terrorist group: but Israel, is like the owner of the house which is attacked: they too, can be justly arrested if they abuse burglars.

An international tribunal needs to do something about Hamas, they must be Isolated, funding must be cut off, they must be disbanded and arrested. They are the cause of this situation: but if Israel, has mistreated the little child Hamas has brought with: to rob their house: then something must be done. There is no question that what Hamas is doing is both illegal, and terrorism, and unjustifiable evil. Only groups, like South Africa's Communist Affiliated: ANC controlled: government can ignore this. The question is: how legitimate are Israeli claims, that they are acting either as best as possible in extenuating circumstances: or obeying international law.

The real question is not whether Hamas is justified: they are not. The question, is whether or not Israel is obeying international law: and how Israel can act in the right way to sort this situation out. Hamas cannot be expected to do so: they are terrorists, and criminals: if we understand international law. The question: is not whether or not Israel has the right to defend themselves: there is always muttering about them: even when they do something good: the question: is as to their choice of methods in doing so.

A way to withdraw from this war: pride intact: must be given to Israel: or at least, a manner in which some victory (I am not speaking of military, but in general)may be won, by the group. Either, a win-win situation must be gained, or a win-lose: where the loser thinks they have also achieved what they can. Israel: is only doing so, in evidence of how sick the Israeli people are of living in war, in terror.

In the same way: as police brutality is something which is lamented: Israel; could be abusing its position, and going beyond the rights which the International Community gives them, but while any rational person should express worry over statistics; until the fog of war clears, it is unclear what we are dealing with at all.

It was just as unclear in the Russia-Georgia conflict recently; where it is now though by many: that both nations had broken international law.

As it is, the high casualties experienced: must be investigated: and leaving the situation, as is: can no longer be tolerated: the International Community: must force through, even quietly: a way for permanent peace.

Gaza Strip, Palestine, Middle East: Israel: to hault bombings for three hours every day

Israel is to start giving breaks from some fighting (we have yet to confirm whether or not it is simply from air-strikes, but this seems the most likely option), from today: 3 hours a day: to allow civilians to recover. This according to BBC World News.

Nowhere Safe in Gaza as Israel targets School

Israel strikes a UN school in Jebaliya, where hundreds of Palestinians were hiding, killing at least 30, mainly children.

Gaza’s biggest hospital is now without power and operating on backup generators that could lose power at anytime. Doctors are working around the clock and are not prepared for the hundreds of patients they’ve been receiving. Everyone is terrorized and traumatized, no place is safe in Gaza.

It seems people stepped outside a shelter thinking it was safe to get some air when they were hit with gunfire.

Children were being laid out on the hospital floor with grief stricken parents hysterical not knowing if they were dead or alive. Medics were running rapidly throughout the hospital taking pulses.

Israeli claims of militants in the area were confirmed: in an incident: where it seems: Hamas was attempting to create a publicity nightmare for Israel: via human shields.

Pope Benedict XVI: extremely Worried About Gaza Conflict: doing what can be done to set up peace

According to the Associated Press: Benedict XVI: is extremely worried about the Gaza conflict, and is encouraging what he can: to bring about peace: between the State of Israel, and Terrorist occupiers of Gaza: Hamas. Benedict XVI: wants the situation to return to negotiations: believing the conflict; which re-emerged, with hundreds of terror attacks by Hamas against Israel; and the Israeli response at a later date: as rockets continue to be launched against Israel, and Israel has launched air, then ground strikes: to be maintained by hatred.

At least 3 Israeli civilians have been killed, we previously reported 4 were killed, but this was either an assumption, or contradicts a dispatch we heard in Sky news. 3 Israeli combatants have also died in friendly fire, according to a report we heard, another two, according to Sky news: are casualties.

A Palestinian, who gave a report for BBC world news, approached a man: dressed like a doctor: saying "you are foreign", and asking his opinion, the man said that most casualties were civilians. Until international journalists are let in, including BBC's top brass: no clear, reliable picture of circumstances can begin to emerge.

Hamas had not been part of recent negotiations: and had seized the Gaza strip, by military might, from the Palestinian "Authority", and recently began launching terrorist attacks at Israeli civilians. Israel has been accused of a disproportionate response. Hamas has also: purposely operated from areas with large populations... and has aimed most attacks: at Israeli civilians: recently hitting a childcare facility.

Israel is letting aid into the Gaza Strip, but faces accusations that it is not enough, or not reaching sites. Israel claims that it is for their safety, that they are keeping international Journalists away. In Iraq, these were often kidnapped, and held hostage, and killed, however: it is not clear that this is the reason: that these are being kept out.

Pope Benedict XVI: believes that both parties need to return to talks: unlike South Africa: who has notably taken the side of the Terrorist Grouping Hamas: or seems to have: from media reports. South Africa is known for their friendships with tyrants, dictators, and terrorist factions. In the UN security council, it had increasingly blocked certain efforts against certain groupings, and also attempts such in the General Assembly of the United Nations. It has also been accused of keeping Robert Mugabe in Power, in neighboring Zimbabwe. South Africa is in the control, of the Communist affiliated ANC, itself: once listed as a terrorist group: in American systems.

Vatican, Vatican: Pope Benedict XVI prays for ceasefire in Gaza: prays for both sides to act in a somewhat more sustainable manner

Pope Benedict XVI, in his Angelus: has prayed for peace in Gaza, in the Middle east: where fresh conflict has broken out between the State of Israel, and the Terrorist group Hamas, which has occupied the Gaza strip, since conquering it by force: taking it from Palestine's legitimate government, and which continues to bombard Israeli towns with rocket-fire, from this usurping position.

The Palestinian Authority: has laid some of the blame of starting the entire situation, on Hamas, unlike South Africa: which has been blinded to any fault there, being as quietly diplomatic to those terrorists, as it has been to Dictator Robert Mugabe, of Zimbabwe: and South Africa, now: is calling Israel to an unconditional ceasefire: despite 30 rockets being launched into Israeli towns and cities yesterday, one of which hit a childcare facility.

While many news services are reporting Pope Benedict XVI: to be calling an immediate ceasefire: we have seen no direct quote for such: he has blamed the tragedy on a refusal to partake in dialogue, and is praying for peace: and lamenting the conflict, however, I have yet to read a direct quote: which gives an immediate manner in which the conflict must end. He has however: called for prayers: that both sides immediately put hostilities away.

His prayer: is for God to create a ceasefire: and realization: such is different from calls for a ceasefire: he is rather: calling on God: to cause both sides to stop fighting.

His call, is not exactly a condemnation of either side, even as it does lament their mistakes, and blame them for such in no real degree: except, for that of a refusal to dialogue, and a hatred, which he blames for the conflict: but rather: prays for peace, and gives a warning: that the situation is not working in the way it is occurring, in fact, he calls the non-combatants in the Area: victims of "Hatred and War", calling the situation "dramatic".

Even if Israel withdraws, the International Community: still needs to intervene: to prevent the rocket attacks, terrorizing Israeli civilians: which Israel has purportedly mobilized to stop.

The Vatican is a known champion of Palestinian rights, however: in this situation: where Hamas caused renewed conflict, by terrorist attacks, openly fired on Israeli civilians: the Vatican; has acted in a very responsible matter: doing as a Catholic hierarchy should in such a situation: and in a non-partisan way: looking into the reality of the situation. The Vatican is neither anti-Israeli, nor anti-Palestinian, even though this war is not between Israel and Palestine, but the Terrorist grouping, Hamas, and the State of Israel.

Four Israeli Civilians, and one combatant have been killed so far, and dozens of Palestinian civilians, and hundreds of combatants have died. The situation on the ground: is considered to be a humanitarian situation. Possibly a short ceasefire to allow aid in, may have been a better move by Israel, as would continuing air-strikes, but no ground offensive, have likely appeared better in the eyes of certain groups.

Toronto becomes Gridlocked from Protesters

Palestinian and pro-Israeli marchers face off yesterday while cops on horses and bikes try and control the emotions of the crowds and keep some type of peace at Dundas Square. Protesters emotions were on high alert as Israel battled Hamas.

Palestinians were screaming and condemning Israel's attacks. There were approximately 200 protesters at Yonge and Dundas Square.

Across Yonge were approximately 200 pro-Palestinian protesters shouting insults right back at the pro-Israel's.

The only thing keeping the peace were a set of barriers down the middle of Yonge causing total gridlock for anyone trying to navigate there way through the city at this time.

Both groups of protesters were headed straight to the Israeli consulate on Bloor St., but using different routes for fear of the crowds getting out of control and attacking each other while lots of innocent people from all backgrounds were out supporting both sides. Almost everyone agreeing children on both sides were innocent and being killed.

Canada's foreign affairs minister, Lawrence Cannon, has been noted as saying he is concerned about the attacks but our the federal government has at this moment is Israel needs to defend itself.

When news of ground invasion of Gaza hit the protesters they inturn became angrier and marched once again throughout downtown Toronto burning Israeli and American flags before the U.S. consulate.

On the pro-Palestinian side several Jewish Canadians voiced their concerns against Israel's policies.

Gaza Strip, Palestine, Middle East: Israeli Ground offensive has begun

Israeli troops have begun to clash with forces of the Terrorist group Hamas: in the start of a ground offensive to take areas. One always feels sad at the beginning of such a conflict: while it was unpreventable: world leaders did not listen to Israel, and so her people caused her politicians to do something radical: still, this is horrid and sad: perhaps now the world will learn, and treat this situation as what it is: another issue, just like those in Africa, or Bosnia: an issue, where two parties are at war. America is continuing to support the Israeli offensive. Some say that they are using the holiday period to ensure their success.

Rockets continue to be launched into Israel, and like a group of angry bees, protecting the bee hive, or a mother bear, sheltering her children: Israel's wrath has been shown.

The Israeli presidency: claims it has no intent to crush Hamas, but only to stop the terrorist attacks. If they are not lying: then it is very likely that if a long-term peace-fire can be brokered: they will immediately withdraw.

As to the morality of this offensive, while I am so deeply weakened within: I do not take a view: except that whatever route is best for longterm peace: must be taken: and partisan politics involving the two nations must end: press must report exactly what is occurring, at least, as best they can.

Many civilians deaths in this conflict: result from the way in which Hamas has fortified themselves in highly populated areas, of a highly populated region. Reports from civilians inside contradict, according to religious views and nationality: some Catholics welcome the attacks, but one "Palestinian American" interviewed, seemed to contradict the viewpoint of the Catholics on the ground. The only thing that can be agreed: is that peace needs to found again, and a longterm peace. The offensive against Israel, which started this entire issue: has not haulted once, despite the heavy backlash, nor have terrorist threats. Granted, Israel's response is very large, and has been somewhat ineffective, in stopping attacks: still, Hamas has shown their true colours in this war. Again, we call for this to go to the International Criminal Court, where justice can be found for both groups.

There is another possible reason for the current Israeli strikes, one not perhaps overly covered. America is entering a Democrats: presidency next year: under a person who has promised to be softer on international relations: this could be bad for Israel: American support ensures they are not conquered by the Arabic Nations around: and Bush is always helpful: he is one international leader who has read the definition of Terrorist; even if he's extrapolated a bit at times: he has condemned Hamas for reopening hostilities with an Israeli government, which has so far been viewed as too soft on the issue: and too friendly to Hamas: who continues to launch terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians.

Hamas has political insurance out of fighting, as does the other group: to an extent: Hamas has no interest in the welfare of their people, nor in peace: but Israel: if the International community can make them feel safe: perhaps by funding missile defense systems, or other defensive aids: and by finally taking war crimes to trial: if Israel were to be made to feel safe: the entire situation would begin to end.

As it is, every Israeli attack: while seeming not to end the Catastrophic situation, is motivated by a desire to secure Israeli people's lives. Hamas: is so defiant: because their survival depends on an enemy to fight.

The only way to peace: is to ignore Hamas' desires: and focus on the needs of the people, and not what they have been propagandized into believing they want. With the entire situation: an international force needs to be deployed, and to ensure the Human Rights of both sides: the time for tit for tat negotiation is over: the time for human rights has begun. Negotiations: must have a goal: not simply squabbling: and a reason to negotiate: must be given: even if it is the threat, or realization: of international troops: and the Hague.

Soft solutions: are often the cause of fear: which, along with the feeling of injustice: these create: creates hatred: and a desperation which leads to war: and only results from a lack of hope. Both sides have become desperate: and all the condemnation in the world: cannot release Israel: from their justified fear: even if their methods may not be justified. Politics, and games must end in this conflict: there must be a final solution: one which unlike the Nazi campaign: does not involve wiping persons of a certain political or religious, or cultural group out: there must be international: armed intervention: via peace keepers; as happens everywhere else: and there must be at least the threat of international prosecution in the International Criminal Court: for all involved in crimes.

There must be a reason to negotiate, and a hope for justice and final peace from it: which only comes from a higher power, and I am not Referring to either of the religions, of the two groups: rather I refer to the United Nations.

Only by justice, can concord be restored, and by concord, shall peace largely be regained. At least those who ordered illegal actions: these at least must be prosecuted: unless extenuating circumstances can be proved... and not simply assumed.

I am not saying that peace keepers must fight Israeli troops: what I am saying is that these must be deployed, perhaps after fighting, or maybe in some ingenious manner. Also, why is it that Egypt continually closes their border? would this not help the situation, if it were opened: would it not begin to release Hamas' grip on Palestine?

Pope Benedict XVI: Gaza situation deeper than shallow solutions

Pope Benedict XVI: has condemned what he sees as an arms race: saying that the majority people in the troubled middle-eastern scene: between Israel, and Hamas: actually desire peace. Like any other sensible source: he has not taken sides: but has called for the International Community to do something real: to help the two sides abandon a "dead-end road": blaming distrust, and hatred for the violence.

While Israel: has strong support for their offensive: having claimed about 400 lives, and dozens of civilian casualties: this support comes due to constant barrages of Israeli territory: aimed at civilians, by the Hamas Terrorist grouping: in charge of Gaza. Political authorities in Israel: have been forced into an offensive: by the perceived lacks in security, by the citizens of their country.

So far, most International intervention has been biased in one side or the other, or has aimed at temporary solutions: which do not look at any real causes of the issues in the nation.

Instead of focusing on justice, peace, development: and calling to account crimes: it has been focused on tit for tat negotiations: and has done nothing to halt the hate-speech of terrorist grouping: Hamas: nor has it done anything real to secure the safety of Israeli citizens: instead: adults are forced into peace agreements: as though they were children: real problems are trivialized: and most of the "help" given: is a politically shaded: as the "Help" South Africa continues to give to what only those connected with or biased towards: it still call: "Zimbabwe".

As with the case of Northern Ireland, and in the case of South Africa: any real peace: can only follow justice: where all war-crimes on both sides are accounted for: and the International Community ensures that these go to the Hague.

Political "demigods", can no longer look to their own interests, nor should they be allowed to: the world needs to use its might in this situation: rather than taking sides: or sensationalizing, or justifying terrorism: which never has a justification: all guilty: no matter how powerful: of breaking international law without extenuating circumstances: must be made to book; there is no extenuating circumstances of course: for terrorism.

Just as with gang violence: the answer, and only answer: is the punishment, and I do not refer to "collective punishment": but rather: international intervention, and punishment of those specific people; who are guilty of escalating unjust violence.

Gaza Strip, Palestine: Israeli attack a "Christmas Present": citizen of Gaza strip

Israel's attack, so near to Christmas: is considered as a Christmas present, by one person interviewed in Gaza: who said that it was his opinion, that most people there hate Hamas, but are to scared of them to voice it. No name for this source was given.

Israel has been in contact with foreigners in the West Bank, extending short periods of permission to again exit the area. Another source said that they didn't talk about politics, rather: only about their immediate situation.

It seems likely that the source of all this information is Catholic people there. The accuracy of it is questionable, as to Hamas being despised, as there is only one source for this: someone who himself seems to dislike a group which he considers as abusive towards Catholics and Muslims in the area.

Condemnation of Israel, by lay Catholics in the Gaza strip, however: is something I personally have not seen since the start of the conflict. It seems, many in Gaza, just like many in Israel: are exhausted of the politically motivated impasse. Hamas continues defiance, and has at our last check: continued terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians: despite heavy losses. Heavy civilian losses, can be ascribed to a sort of human shield method used by the terrorist group: Hamas: which purposely places installations, and launches rockets also: intentionally: in and from heavily populated civilian areas.

As to whether or not this advance is justified: many sources would prefer a peaceful solution, at least: those outside of the Gaza strip, but other than supporters of Hamas: this invasion, seems viewed as relief from terror by some.

In the end, condemnations from Catholic sources fear greater hatred being caused by these battles: how justified this war is: will only be determined, after fighting has stopped. The Israeli government has launched this counterstrike: after hundreds of missiles were launched at Israeli civilians: an embarrassment: to a government; which has risked looking too friendly to Palestine.

The war itself: is a result of the failure of the International Community: in the peace efforts: embarrassing an Israeli government which actually co-operated with such: to the extent of being looked down on by Israeli people. A government, which seems to be fighting its war: for political survival: seen as having been too soft in securing Israel: now, spurred on by the opposition: the Israeli government is making a gesture to its people: a gesture, which has cost hundreds of lives: and which would not have been made, in the case: that this government had not been made to look foolish.

Israel: has decided to lift the corpse from its doorway: for years, it has been condemned for Palestine: often wrongly; it certainly is not implementing Apartheid: it is Palestine, which has taken a territory from Israel, and these are two separate states. The result of consistent calls for her destruction: Israel, has decided to finally rid the world of one of the causes of these.

This recent war, proves: not a failure in Israel, but in the International Community: simply continuing to Condemn Israel, while ignoring hundreds of Missiles launched at it: is a mistake; isolating Israel: despite the fact, their enemies: openly advocate terrorism: has only caused the Jewish nation to go it alone. As long as the International Community condemns violence: it is good publicity: but I have yet to see a real solution given: peace needs hope, and justice: but because Hamas could not survive it: the International Community has not once suggested an international Tribunal: to try members of both sides, and force through peace.

The words of the Israeli people: ignored by the world, as they daily face terror attacks; and endless threats: are so much more poignant in the eyes of their politicians: than a thousand protests, and condemnations. Until Israel is given the voice it deserves: it will continue to insure its safety in the only sure way it knows.

The civilian losses in Palestine are huge: but it needs to be noted: that these losses were intended by Hamas: should there be an attack: they have always used civilian deaths as a banner: and have not withdrawn from heavily populated ares.

This said, while I think there must be a better, peaceful answer to this: as long as the International Community continues to prevent Israel from having this option: by allowing her people to call for blood: out of constant fear: we will not see a solution. Any clever politics mean nothing: when Israel's people: are those forcing this war through: the International Community needs to look sincerely into this situation: rather than simply advocating peace: without giving a way to create it.

Both Israeli, and Palestinian needs: need to be put on the table: and those who are obstacles: unjust obstacles: not perceived ones: to a lasting peace: need to be taken down by the United Nations. Clearly, as seen in their strikes, and pointless fighting: Hamas: has it in their best interests politically: to insure fighting continues, and as long as terrorist attacks continue to hit Israel: any Israeli politician, also has it in their best interests to continue fighting: both sides also only lose face in hearing international voices.

Until the political necessity is reversed on both sides: there is no point in simply condemning fighting: because neither side will edge towards peace: until they think it is of benefit to their personal political interests.

Catholic sources desire peaceful solution

1700 Palestinians injured (BBC World News), and about 400 dead. 4 Israeli civilians dead: in rocket attacks aimed at civilians by Hamas (BBC World News).

A Catholic source on Vatican Radio: has expressed alarm at the scale of the Israeli strikes on Palestine: and has called for a peaceful solution, and for both sides to renounce violence. Israel claims it will only stop attacks when it can stop rocket attacks on Israeli civilians: a big difference in a government which has previously been very concentrated on peace: and which risks its political survival. The UN estimates at least 60 women and children have died in Israeli air-strikes on Hamas: meanwhile: Hamas attacks: aimed at Israeli civilians have killed four people.

Despite the onslaught against the Palestinian people: Hamas is continuing to order their fighters, and anyone they can: to launch attacks on "Israel": such attacks are usually and almost always aimed at non-combatants. The Israeli government's political structure: appears to have been forced into this action politically: in order to justify a softer stance on security threats posed by Hamas: which resulted in the deaths of civilians.

While Israel's defense department claims to be sending some aid: mostly medical supplies: into the Gaza Strip: there are claims that this is not reaching its destination: for which an Israeli representative blamed Hamas. A voice in the Catholic world: seems to be asking strongly for a humanitarian through way, into Gaza to be opened: but Israel has yet to allow either this, or international Journalists into the strip. There is seen to be a desperate need for massive supplies into Palestine: but Israel: is only allowing so much traffic in.

Reservists in Israel: have been called into active duty: and it seems the wrath of Israel: is behind the attacks, with an opposition source calling for the attacks to unseat Hamas. While Hamas is a terrorist grouping: the scale, and violent means employed by Israel; in response to ongoing attacks on their civilian population: has been a major area on which Israel has been attacked. The madness of Hamas to continue in defiance: is simply shown by comparing civilian casualties: while many rockets are launched at Israel: few hit and kill: meanwhile: accidental hitting of civilians by Israel: give a bigger casualty rate: than planned attacks on Israeli civilians, by Hamas. Promises of suicide bombers: by Hamas: have yet to dematerialize on israeli soil.

This is a war: that Israel's politicians will find hard to get away from: the Israeli people are the major reason, and source of this attack. The ruling administration in Israel: needs to get good press from their people: to maintain their power. They have lost face: due to the failure of the peace process: and have responded much as American politicians did after 9/11 (11/9 in South African date format).

Any peace process, needs to convince Israel that it is worth-while: simply attacking a government: who has attacked another nation to avoid political death: can only further incense the people behind this assault. Either the threat against Israel's people must be elliminated, and in a long term way: or the risk is: that they will continue to push their authorities; much as colonial America did against the Red Indians: until they are convinced that the snake of terrorism is dead. In other words: justice is needed to be seen as viable: the international community needs to include justice in this peace process.

Unfortunately: such assaults: on both sides: seem to continue to foster the hateful relationship. More than that: propaganda by Hamas: and missile strikes against Israel continue this issue. Israel can at any moment launch ground troops: to take the territory. Their army is likely at least on level with South Africa's duing apartheid. This is a nation: which has fought about half a dozen nations at once: and which has strong allies in America: currently.

Hamas certainly does not have the interests of the Palestinian people at heart: not with their response: but in dealing with terrorism against her Borders, Israel: cannot simply resort to force: if blockades, or relative violence: can sort out this issue: Israel needs to aim at this. Their clear agenda at present: seems to be to get rid of Hamas: but after this: what atmosphere will their attack create, will a new Hamas rise, or go underground? Israel needs to be careful in their next steps, as with the international community in dealing with this. Condemning politicians: who are hearing their people: or forcing peace processes on Israel: could well only result in radical politics gaining more power in defense of Israel's sovereignty; and cause the embarresment of voices of peace in israel: as already is the current case.

Asking for peace, and humanitarian corridors is fine, lamenting civilian deaths: and asking Israel to be careful is fine: but we must be careful in how to approach this issue. The politicians who spur this on, are not those in charge in Israel: they instead are spurred on for political survival: by a people who feel unsafe.

Whatever happens: to gain a long term solution: those ready to listen to the International Community: cannot be made to lose face; and Israel must have an outlook: which sees a world prepared to protect their own human rights: but this outlook will not come so long as the world underestimates the horror Israelis experience at terror: and as long as Israeli people feel misunderstood: they will continue to spur on politicians: to make war with those who attack their own families, and their people: purposely aiming at civilians.

Recognizing that this war is possibly: highly disproportionate: no amount of outcry will stop Israel: so far as they believe that they are being shut out by those who do not have their best interests in heart: and who would willingly also protect their own nations from terrorism.

A long term solution: must acknowledge Israel's plight: because: it is her people, not her politicians: pressing for the blood of those she sees as responsible for the death of many of her civilians.

Also: as long as Hamas is allowed to hold her terrorist methods, and to spread propaganda: as it does: there can be no lasting peace: in that such words lead to attacks, which spawn counter-attacks. Both sides are being engineered: by Hamas' desire to strike Israel: they are being manufactured to support ongoing war.

The situation is too complex for simple solutions: only justice: and the elimination of terrorism, and human rights abuses and abusers in the region will be lasting. While the international community aims at negotiations: perhaps it should speak to both sides: about answering for any and all crimes as regards the international law.

The only real solution lies in an international tribune: something which would likely see much of Hamas, and some of Israel's people arrested, and taken to the Hague. As it is, the world desires: as they have for years: peace, but not justice: and that places any peace process at the mercy of political maneuvering and necessity.

Gaza conflict continues: as Islamics jump to Hamas's support, Catholic church remains neutral, asks for solution

I love being on holiday: it means allot of watching news channels: and more work in this service to the Catholic, and other people of South Africa and the world. BBC, and EuroNews: I have found most useful on the current Gaza conflict: it is unfortunate, but while IOL's: the Star, had a wonderfully neutral, and informative article, on page four: some time ago: on page one: the same day: that had a one sided story from a university member's perception. The Catholic view seems: a desire for humanitarian channels to open: however: Israel says they are open: and there are accusations from their side against Hamas: involving tons of aid they claim is entering daily.

The Pope called for an end to the situation in Gaza: for the world to work together to help both sides to walk past the dark corner in which they find themselves. I have yet to see an authoritative statement questioning the validity of Israel's war on the terrorist organization: Hamas: in Gaza: however, it is lamented that civilians are dying in the conflict. It seems, the Papacy's planned coming visit to Israel will still occur.

It seems, that all authoritative Catholic sources: only aim for the fastest, and most long lasting end to violence. Israel, of course; while rejecting a 24 hour peace treaty suggested by France, an ally: as a bandage: earlier in the campaign seemed to hint that they would stop strikes on Gaza: when missiles stop being fired on Israel from it: and Hamas: is still telling their fighters to attack. Over 100 missiles were launched on Saturday, and while: since the offensive: missile strikes have been reduced: 4 Israeli citizens have died.

As for myself: I only hope for the best solution. It is feared that this conflict will place a hard dampener on peace talks. As of yet, all protests against this responsive attack: seem either from Islamic sources, or from Organizations: like COSATU, who have no real record of stable statements: having called for bloodshed: if a political candidate they support: is prosecuted for corruption.

Al other sources: are hoping for as speedy, and good a recovery from the situation as possible. Perhaps I am not giving a full spectrum, but I think other smaller sources irrelevant in this situation.

In an attack involving hundreds of tons of aerial bombs, and lasting more than what seems one day; as though the closing word for the year: dropped on Hamas fortifications across Gaza: Israel has struck back: hitting military targets, and a police station, and Arabic university: in response to rocket strikes against Israeli civilians: launched by the same sort of organization: which holds Lebanon at gunpoint: Hamas. The Arabic group has vowed to send suicide bombers into Israel now: and launched many more rockets in response: killing at least one Israeli civilian.

Israel, according to EuroNews: has amassed an army of tanks outside of Palestine's: border. The Israeli leader seems to hint that they will definitely invade the area: it is not a question of if they will but when they will, if hintings are to be taken at face value.

Hamas was not part of a comprehensive peace process, and have been the first to attack: breaking a 6 month ceasefire between these two groups. While Israel has allowed aid through the border into Palestine: it is mostly seen as a political move. Israel has large support throughout the west in a move seen largely as aimed at combating terrorist attacks launched on Israel.

Hamas has not withdrawn, launching threats, missiles, and defiance into the air, as the Arab nations have called an emergency meeting to deal with what they will do, and unlike western Nations, such as America: which saw the attack as justified, and blames Hamas for the response they had been blamed for gaining: and only asked that Israel focus on Hamas, and not civilians: the Arab world has condemned the attacks.

This could see a war between Israel and certain other nations, or the end of Hamas in Gaza, or else continuing of the bloodshed already seen. In any case: it could be followed by some real peace: contrasted to the failed process already in action.

The hundreds of casualties taken against Palestine, in recent air-strikes: is very large as compared with one man dying in many retaliations, and perhaps small even compared with those dying in many terrorist attacks recently launched on Israel. The stance of Hamas in the situation: seems unwise, unless their's is some conspiracy to attack Israel from this: when a nation should be scrambling to the negotiating table, and offering up deals: Hamas is only inflating an already bad situation, caused by their own violation of a peace treaty.

Israel, has the media high ground: their attacks were against military targets, and their enemy has attacked civilians purposely, and also has vowed suicide bombing: clear terrorism.

With each statement by the Palestinian authority: outright invasion of Palestine by Israel edges closer.

Israel's attacks come before elections: and are by a government which needs support for re-election. Hamas itself faces opposition within Palestine, and Egypt, an Arab Nation: has closed their border to the nation: forcing tunnels to be dug to Egypt, for many supplies, and making Israel the main route for aid into the nation. Hamas supporters are protesting against Israel, and Egypt, where peace processes are hoped to be etched out.

Cosatu, has now called for a South African boycott of "Apartheid Israel", following their reprisal attacks. Below, we will explain, this is not wise in such a situation, and by a group which repeatedly makes controversial and dangerous statements.

COSATU is somewhat associated with the deposing of South Africa's previous President: Thabo Mbeki.

As the ANC has increasingly dismissed members thought to not be happy with party leadership, and members have repeatedly called for genocide against "Counter-revolutionaries", and as members of the Communist affiliated ANC party: in high positions in the ANC: have made remarks: including one involving a desire to "Annihilate" South Africa's most effective (Voting wise) opposition party: the Democratic Alliance.

The ANC, has also allowed members to call for a genocide if certain desires of the party are not met. The ANC, has for years: voted against what South Africans, including their support bases: have considered moral.

COSATU, the biggest suporter of the new section of the ANC, now in power: have repeatedly been involved in threats: including threatening a judge, and it is they, also, who have made statements: about a desire to "Kill for Zuma" in support of a controversial party leader: as rape (he was found innocent: ANC members in high office have said that they can guarantee the accuser's safety in South Africa: if she withdraws her testimony: another woman looking like her was stoned by ANC supporters, and the party has not collectively condemned violent acts by supporters), corruption, and other charges against the ANC leader have been increasingly caused anxiety about his possible leadership of the country. Many legal efforts against Zuma, have been kept out of court, by efforts, including legal procedure. Other attempts, sometimes seen as caused by COSATU, and seen by many as attempts open meddling in South Africa's justice system, via threats and protests, have aimed at forcing certain things to not be tried in court.

While the Islamic world, has condemned Israeli action, the European Union, has called for peace on both sides, and the "United States", has taken Israel's side. Important figures of COSATU: itself, have previously attacked, or kept silent during attacks by representation from an important part of the union: on the Ten commandments, and is universally controversial in South Africa. Following an attack on the Ten commandments: to justify what was seen as adultery, by Jacob Zuma, who already has many wives: many esteemed members of Cosatu: left. Others have been disheartened, after a man was proven as using union funds for his own purposes, and the whistle-blower, was dealt with, while the person guilty of such got to repay what was owed.

As to international Law, while Israel has reportedly broken it at many an event in past times: attacks aimed purposely at non-combatants by Hamas: probably mean dwindling western support. While the Catholic church generally defends the rights of Palestinians: we have not come into any commentary on this situation.

Those condemning the attacks in South Africa: are Islamic groups, and Cosatu. Most other voices seem neutral: or private on their views of the legitimacy of these reprisals by Israel.

Our own view: is that the issue in Israel and Palestine: should be brought in front of the International Criminal Court, and mediated once and for all: with perpetrators of crimes against humanity: being prosecuted. We firmly believe that as long as the peace process is focussed on negotiation, without a focus on justice: these continued attacks on both sides will proceed, or eventually: Israel, will further enforce their desires to occupy, and control Gaza: to protect their own citizens: which, due to the illogical leadership in Palestine: may result in definite harm to Palestinian people. International efforts, by those apposed to Israeli policy, have also yet to see any real impact on this policy.

The fact that terror attacks, are purposely perpetrated against Israeli civilians, rather than military targets: and from civilian areas: so that Israeli reprisals will hit civilians, seems manipulative. While we do not support either side: at least as far as journalism goes (I do have personal views): we do believe that Hamas is handling this situation: in such a way: as to only further hurt their people. Every response they give: is responded to by Israeli officials who need political support: except Israel can attack precisely, and professionally: and in a way which is pleasing to the west, and western media, while no-one with respect for the Geneva Convention, or Just War principles, can justify the aiming of attacks at known non-combatants. What Palestine needs is peace, not military leadership, which promises terrorist attacks on a more powerful nation, and breaks a peace agreement, which has been securing the lives of their people for six months. Such seems like political maneuvering: and while to the benefit of Israeli politicians, and of those wanting war: this is not in the interests of the Palestinian people.

Hamas, which often keeps their power by military, has caused problems in every nation where they have gained power. Possibly, the best solution to the situation: is for another Palestinian group to take to, or be placed into power: however, we are unsure of when the next Palestinian election will be, or if that would happen, whether an impeachment could occur, or even be possible in such a country, with such social dynamics: and propaganda, or how their state works. Certainly, they are strategically, only harming the dignity of their people: by bad, and foolish decisions: which will gain no long term, nor any short term victories for the group.

Either, these next weeks may show a new situation in the Mid-east, or else: worse of the same. Whatever occurs, the entire circumstance has to alter radically, and will continue to alter as the situation changes.

An Israeli invasion, has just become all the more real a possibility. With such crippling blows to Hamas: a real assault on the small Palestinian territory, could aim at a legacy of long lasting impacts. The lasting effects on the region, and on Palestine of the events following the breaking of a peace agreement by Hamas, and the response by Israel: could be catastrophic.

Both sides: could be well pressed to find other non-violent solutions to this issue. Especially, as it is widely realized: that the Israeli response is seen as a political necessity on the part of Israel's more peace-prone government: after missile strikes from Palestine actually hit civilians populations in Israel. An inadequate defensive network: has lead to a political solution: which involved attacking Palestine. Hamas has for some reason thought it prudent to cause a government which has been the most friendly to their people in a long time: to launch the greatest attack ever launched by Israel: since the Jewish nation was first established, causing an inevitable response from Israel.

On both sides: continuing of conflict, and opposition to a comprehensive peace process, seems largely to be for political give and take. While their people suffer reprisals: political groupings gain prestige, power, and funding from the continued threat of a conflict situation in Palestine.
