Today is felt every Sunday, every moment since the universe began. The moment pain entered the creator's pen, his mind filled with images of death, of a fruit toxic to man, of sin. Sinfulness inglorious sinfulness.
Blood is what we drink to live. Blood renews us, blood saves our being, our soul. Without blood we do not live. Christ's blood, the Eucharist.
Today is the moment we turn to every Sunday, every mass, every moment in God. It is the blood spilt today two millennia hence, which washes our sins into the ground, where they explode and an earthquake, and a new heart is found.
Good Friday is good, because it is what makes us good.

Journey in a Broken World: When a Catholic may kill: just war, capital punishment, and just rebellion: less looked at doctrine, less spoken of rules

My family, it has been so involved in history, from the French resistance, where many of my people died fighting the Nazi occupiers of my ancestor's homeland: Mother France; to our political, but not armed fight against apartheid, via what has since been renamed the DA, the Democratic Alliance, but was once the Progressive Party. I had no doubt of the morality of politically apposing an enemy of ethical morality, but on hearing that the Church had forsaken the IRA, I worried for the souls of my heroic French family, who had fought the Nazi's, in the French Resistance.
We speak of anger as a sin, but this is a theological anger, not the emotion, which simply informs us of situations, which if well controlled: is a weapon, and a warning.
I remember, when I was very young being very angry, both due to sickness, to being easily angered after having a horrid sickness, this was not just anger, yet learning to control it came gradually with self control, and another anger, which was not for the same purposes, and different, powerful, good as an anger.
Anger, when I have been apposed in good, or when I see evil, which is not rare in South Africa: can pulse via my veins, yet when I look deeper, even as I had been telling myself of the emotion flowing, which I was observing for sin: I hate them, my words said inside, yet I looked deeper, at why and what I truly hated, "I hate this person for what they have done", and "continue" in! Even when another anger streaked via me, I used my contemplative theological powers, my Philosophy of actions, as I see it, and looked into what I really felt: to avoid mortal sin.
What I found was an anger at a situation, and at what happened, what someone did, and does still: which is aimed at destroying God's work. It is not hate the sin, love the sinner, my anger is the acting of charity. I do not do violence, this is unwise, and unwarranted, no: I simply realize the purpose of my anger. Anger is meant to be a tool to change bad situations into less bad, like hope: it is a realization that things are not as we want, or believe they should remain as. Anger of this manner was made by God. It is when anger is centered not at hope, not at defense and advancement of life, and right: that anger is unjust.
The IRA, who as a largely Irish person, I myself had quietly, in my mind: so wanted to be justified, I found were condemned by the church as terrorists, as opponents to her, despite their defense of the Irish people.
When I heard this, I feared for my French heroes, who I had been taught to admire for fighting the Nazi occupation, but left it: right until I started to contemplate abortion, the murder of millions: what were we to do of this? It is here where I read something odd: that one could kill, yet not always to prevent an abortion. Killing an abortionist like a hit man, is not just, yet whatever force necessary to prevent it if in the room as it is to happen, was called just, yet it was noted that it seldom required deathblows.
I was perplexed, puzzled, and would have stopped reading were it not EWTN. I read on, and looked for their sources. On my own, I understand better now, since learning to seek my source emotions: my furious, controlled anger when evil appears in front of me: whether watching a man have a gun pulled on him, or seeing violence. I have myself had a knife pulled on me, but was calm.
Anger is meant by God to be a source of justice, when we hate a person, we lie to ourselves: a person is but animated (Latin for soul is Anima: it is our life, that which feed's God's life-force into our being) flesh and blood: what we hate is always what they do or have done, the way they do what they do, is it not; or else, is it not that they are dangerous to our livelihood? What acting justly against an oppressor is and is not is vital, it always lies in preventing great evil, in what is called self defense, or the defense of innocents, or souls, or good against evil.
CCC 2243 is what allows for the formation of an armed resistance to an authority: such as a government, or German Occupiers of France, however, the doctrine of the church forbids the killing of bystanders, "non-combatants", and acts also are illicit, and not permitted: of what is known as "Terrorism". Further, the right conditions must be in place, much as in just war itself, but I will quote it directly:
"2242 The citizen is obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel. Refusing obedience to civil authorities, when their demands are contrary to those of an upright conscience, finds its justification in the distinction between serving God and serving the political community. "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."48 "We must obey God rather than men":49
When citizens are under the oppression of a public authority which oversteps its competence, they should still not refuse to give or to do what is objectively demanded of them by the common good; but it is legitimate for them to defend their own rights and those of their fellow citizens against the abuse of this authority within the limits of the natural law and the Law of the Gospel.50
2243 Armed resistance to oppression by political authority is not legitimate, unless all the following conditions are met: 1) there is certain, grave, and prolonged violation of fundamental rights; 2) all other means of redress have been exhausted; 3) such resistance will not provoke worse disorders; 4) there is well-founded hope of success; and 5) it is impossible reasonably to foresee any better solution." By this, when other means can achieve the goal, they are to be pursued, which is why the church has not caused civil wars in countries like Britain, or America, where abortion is predominant in many parts of society. The situation has not yet been seen as bad enough for military means of taking care of it. As long as there are non-violent means to sort out a situation, these are generally pursued. According to EWTN, my source on this: there is not enough evidence that other methods will not achieve the goal of ending abortion: violence on a small scale, except when directly in the situation, therefore only harms the cause of those apposing abortion. Prayer vigils, fasting, campaigns, legal battles, and politics, are therefore pursued. War is not taken up, except when absolutely seen as vitally needed.
This possibly justifies my French relatives, who it is hoped still to hope to see in heaven, it justifies many in Europe during the War.
So, why then did the church remain but political in South Africa: simply put, we had no right to do anything else: perhaps defend an innocent life when it happened, and many during the struggle did, yet there were not conditions which said peaceful means were not viable, there were not signs which said combat would not do additional harm. War must only be approached cautiously, and never by hurting non-combatants. Therefore, where some of my relatives were heroes for strategic armed resistance, others were likewise for political resistance.
War is never justified, except when utterly necessary, even then: rules must be kept, all is not fair in love and war. War is only justifiable: if all possible measures are taken to do so in a just manner, any unjust action, or unwarranted force: is not allowable.
When America invaded Iraq, it was an unjust war, the pope begged them not to, but they did, the result is a genocide against Christianity in Iraq, and elsewhere. In other times and places open warfare is acceptable, but again, it is not light matter to take to force. When force is used, it is only when all other options are dry, like driftwood.
My own anger must be channeled, so as not to cause harm to goodness. We must be strategic when justly angry, and we must be sane. When told to forgive a repentant sinner, we are not told to forgive the unrepentant: but tolerating evil can be just when licit means cannot be used, or for a while until it may be destroyed. Revenge is not justified, we cannot harm an aggressor after the fact in judgment with force, we are not a just authority. Where needed, legal or political action may be taken, but war is to stop immediate, certain harm, not simply to punish whom we appose. Defense of nations, is licit, except against just aggression, hence South African troops deployed throughout Africa on UN missions, can be morally justified.
Other times where killing is acceptable, is capital punishment, self defense, or defense of others, and in just war: all three show a grave duty. Capital punishment however should be rare, and when needed: alone. It is the church who so powerfully has combated and destroyed much of death friendly legalities.
Ultimately, war is a last result, as with force: in situations where they are utterly needed: as obliged by conscience. We are a peace loving people, as Catholics, yet there are times when war is justifiable, as with civil disobedience, which can often be: render to Caesar what is his, but what is God's to God: morality is the realm of God, as with religion: these belong to him alone.

And so, to conclude, my French relatives were justly fighting an invasion, the IRA were fighting for a cause which many find appealing, but perhaps should not have taken to arms, and certainly should not have resorted to terrorism, and abortion still can and therefore should be fought on the social level. Mind you, while worried about obligations involving abortion, what actually alerted me to this, which I found impossible to find anything on when trying to justify my relatives' action against the Nazi oppressor: I found, when not looking into what is just: but in trying to understand if abortion to save the mother is ever permissible: to answer a non-Catholic who asked me of this. The answer is no, but should something be wrong with a woman, and the operation needed to save her could damage the child: it is a physical evil. If to save the mother, the intent is to kill the child, this is doctrinally evil: but if one should induce early pregnancy, when the child has a chance, or do a risky operation, this is fine: but to intentionally kill an embryo is abortion, for which we are materially, if not sometimes actually: excommunicated for any effective collaboration in!
In any case, I thought to share my research, by which I have at least allowed for the actions of my bedtime story type heroes of my family's past: to be just and righteous!
I do not however in this endorse any war, or warfare, or conflict: I simply relay what the theological stances seem to be, nor is this intended for anything but the justifying of conscience, and explanations of what the Catholic Church seems to teach!

Journey in a Broken World- over 150 Priests, and religious investigated for sexual abuse over past 68 years- Dublin

Dublin Archdiocese has released figures that in the past 68 years, over 150 priests and religious, in the Archdiocese have been investigated for possible sexual abuse. There have been several convictions of late, and the Archdiocese asks those with information to approach police, child services and the church. Catholics used to be excommunicated within three months if they did not report sexual abuse, or vow to, within the context of the pretext or actuality of the sacrament of confession, however we have not found this in the 1983 version of Canon law. Rather- priests, and false accusers are to be punished according to Canon 1387, 1389, and 1390- which require actions against those allowing harm- by those responsible with ecclesiastical authority and jurisdiction, discipline of guilty priests, and punishment for false accusers also, and those in authority within the church- who refuse to prevent harms being done via such.
Canon 1389 provides for punishment of those abusing ecclesiastical authority, or not acting against others, who carry guilt if given ecclesiastical authority.

Social Justice South Africa- India- Genocide continues- Church encourages courage- and Godly actions- reminds Christians of Christ Crucified, and takes joy in recent canonization of an Indian Saint

As the Indian genocide against Christians, especially targeting Catholics- continues- the church was organizing another peaceful protest. The recent canonization of an Indian saint- is hoped to give courage and hope to the Indian Christians whose Hindu extremist enemies have so effectively, and tactically carried out a genocide against.
The church on World Missions Day, and the day of this protest, this past Sunday- was, as recorded still on the 17th planned to have asked Christians not to put out the light of Christ, but to bring the light of the gospel into their everyday lives- knowing what a great gift the scriptures, and the gospel of the Holy Roman Apostolic line truly are. They encouraged boldness and in this also- stated that the global Catholic community stands in solidarity with her persecuted brothers and sisters in India. I may note personally that the bible says- when one part suffers- all do!
It is hoped that through preaching the gospel, and the sharing of truth, and living of truth- and reason, which also must be shared- that these enemies of Christianity may be prevented in their efforts- both via preaching, and by non-violent methods, and self defense by Christians.
While many have died in India- the church there is to take hope in their master- Christ crucified- and take hope and courage- in fact this is what we all know from our ancestors is- remaining true to themselves- which entails deeply- loyalty to what they have been taught- and have found to be true- Christ Crucified, Christ Risen, Christ who is with us in the church, and present fully in the Eucharist, and in our every breath if we allow it- and Christ who will come again, resurrecting the bodies of men that judgment may occur.

Social Justice South Africa- Northern Ireland- British Culture of Death- attempting to force abortion regulations on Northern Ireland

The new British suggested amendments to the already controversial Embryology bill, are such, which aims at legalizing abortion until the moment of birth- has also the aim at doing the same, as is now common practice in pro-abortion Britain- to the Northern Irish citizens. Since England conquered Ireland, and has refused a withdrawal from Northern Ireland, despite years of Irish Opposition to the occupational force, there has been some degree of hostility between the Catholic Irish, and Protestant descendants of British Citizens- perhaps this latest development gives further light as to why politics and Catholicism must not be separated completely.
The problem with labeling conflicts as purely religious- lies in the fact that religion and culture saturate every aspect of culture. The Irish Bishops appose the bill- being contemplated in the British parliament- and possibly to be enforced against the Irish.
Due to the Genocide definition of the UN, and the views of the Catholic church- Catholic Irish will once again be upset with a British decision. While this bill is to be apposed- the Irish Bishops are wisely doing so with a pro-life rally, and with prayer- the only people to die from this open attempt to interfere with Irish Democracy- may well be the unborn children whose parents decide to kill them. These same Bishops apposed the efforts of the IRA, showing that their opposition to one form of killing, is not hypocrisy- as they also appose other forms of intentionally killing persons not found guilty of any crime.
Genocide, according to the United Nations is:

The new British suggested amendments to the already controversial Embryology bill, are such, which aims at legalizing abortion until the moment of birth- has also the aim at doing the same, as is now common practice in pro-abortion Britain- to the Northern Irish citizens. Since England conquered Ireland, and has refused a withdrawal from Northern Ireland, despite years of Irish Opposition to the occupational force, there has been some degree of hostility between the Catholic Irish, and Protestant descendants of British Citizens- perhaps this latest development gives further light as to why politics and Catholicism must not be separated completely.
The problem with labeling conflicts as purely religious- lies in the fact that religion and culture saturate every aspect of culture. The Irish Bishops appose the bill- being contemplated in the British parliament- and possibly to be enforced against the Irish.
Due to the Genocide definition of the UN, and the views of the Catholic church- Catholic Irish will once again be upset with a British decision. While this bill is to be apposed- the Irish Bishops are wisely doing so with a pro-life rally, and with prayer- the only people to die from this open attempt to interfere with Irish Democracy- may well be the unborn children whose parents decide to kill them. These same Bishops apposed the efforts of the IRA, showing that their opposition to one form of killing, is not hypocrisy- as they also appose other forms of intentionally killing persons not found guilty of any crime.

Tridentine South Africa- the mysterious impact of the harder path

When scaling a mountain- or simply walking on the streets- a relatively steep slope is easier to mount than a cliff-face, and once one has been walking on this- it slowly become the norm.
The opposite occurs when one is walking slowly along, and suddenly comes across impassable terrain. Here, the untrained wisely refrain, and the trained take joy in their training.
Now, the mass trains us through rituals in intuition- so as to gain the right path to God. When the meaning of the signs is altered, so as to have no basis- not only is this "Superstition", a mortal sin, but it also takes away from any effect of the Divine Liturgy. When we make mass easier for the sake of ease, we sow in shallow ground, and the seeds here quickly find root, but also quickly die. The parishioners who are treated too softly, by church and self- often wither to dust, when faced with the cliff-face of morality. Those who enter faith knowing the cost- see the cliff-face and continue as they had- slowly mounting the impossible. Jesus himself says that conversion is impossible- before adding that this is not impossible with God.
This is why we subscribe as Orthodox Roman Catholics- to the firm belief that softening the path beyond meaning is dangerous- because we lose grace- and then what is possible to God- truly is impossible.
An argument for the Latin Liturgy, is not complete without stating that Vatican II desired and stated this was to be the norm. What we argue for here- is not simply reintroducing a wider use of the Latin mass, but also that one not fear losing persons by not watering down the faith- rather- if we water it down- they only believe they are Catholic, but never truly take root. If we enforce every rule and regulation with utmost detailed power- at least we are building a foundation- even if our beliefs are rejected.
Now, as to the Latin- firstly, it is asked of the church in Vatican II that this be the norm, and secondly- it is not a sin of the laity- should the bishops in their area, or their pope forbid this practice. Quite simply- that sin rests squarely, and only on the competent authority. This is where one must realize the errors of those who reject the Ecclesiastical authority. The actual degree is as follows, as quoted from Vatican II:

SACROSANCTUM CONCILIUM
SOLEMNLY PROMULGATED BY
HIS HOLINESS

Now, when the venacular is to be used- it is to be of benefit to the people- this is why the ecclesiam has allowed it largely- but where it has been caused as the only form- bishops have in fact condemned thousands to hades- in the leaving of these people from the flock, and also in many abuses, and problems with liturgy. In other words- the venacular is allowed by God where it creates fruit- but the manner in which it has been abused, and has been overused- has in fact done the opposite- it has encouraged laxity- taken away from some of the mystery- set us further apart from our Greek brothers, and further has caused a different balance in the mass, and therefore in the spirituality of Catholics- whereby vast majorities of faithful in many countries, especially in South Africa- actually fall under the excommunication, anathema, or condemnation of the church.
Now, when we allow a less defined liturgy- we allow less defined morality- and when we allow shallower public worship, we allow shallower spirituality.
When one takes effort to worship God as in the Tridentine rite- one realizes the purpose of the mass- and more than this of life- that we are worshiping and praying to God.

Chastity South Africa- You are your body!

Theologically- we are fully body and fully soul. The soul is the life, the body that which is given life by the soul. Before conception we have souls, life much like the animals do- temperal, not eternal- but at conception we are made permanent- aeviternal is the better word. Biblically- the soul is often used to denote the body and soul- the self of a man!
For now- our bodies are temperal- because if they were aeviternal- we would not be able to return to God. The body of a man is the only thing apart from the spiritual which can influence his soul. We cannot be saved or condemned apart from the actings of our own body. At birth- we are weakened by the lack of grace known as original sin- this is why the fear exists of many souls going straight to hell- however- in addition to our physical actions, and physical thoughts- is what we are planning to do, or would do given the chance- and this too has a ghostly effect on our lives, on our souls.
Life is more complex than many think it is- God for instance is pure Life. That means life is more than pure animation. The word animation in fact comes from the Latin word for soul- anima. We say rather- the soul and the life of a being are one thing.
When we speak of the form of one's body- we speak of something which is also utterly connected with the soul. The human person is designed that way- we interact with the world with our bodies- and are as much our body as we are our soul.
When we feel we cannot control the weakness of our body, we are lying to ourselves. Our body is ourself- we are perfectly in control when we sin. It does not make it harder or easier, but so far as we know what we are doing, know it is wrong, and are awake enough to comprehend, and alter our actions- we are responsible for our actions.
When the body has a desire- this desire is entered into with our entire self to some degree. When our desires of evil exist- we know this is purely the twisting of desires once good- but no longer so. Like the Orcs in Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings, who were once elves, and wondrous- evil is not the opposite of good- but the mutation of it- so that it is no longer as it is.
When our body has a desire- when our mind or emotions desire something- we must ask of the source of it- if the source is the same as the desire, and it is good- perhaps we have found the source- otherwise- when a desire is evil- the body does not desire something evil- even as the mind might be disposed by our past, or weakness to believe that it desires evil. It rather- either continues old habits, or believes lies we have told it, or tells us something we misunderstand, or take too heavily.
When we desire to do evil- we must view the good which has been twisted, and maligned into this desire- we must endorse this good, and focus on our breathing, and on the good- and purposely manifest the good desire apart from the evil we have been deluded into thinking is our body's desire, and push the evil desire away- be enlarging the good- and by prayer, sacraments- and the purpose of good.
Desires, and actions are not the same thing. To endorse a desire however is an action, and to fight one also is. To have an evil desire is only sin- if we do not immediately try to combat it when we realize what is happening in some valid extent. Not every desire should be acted on- for instance- the body might desire more food - having already eaten- but this is because we have lied to it, by eating too much in the past, or simply the natural desire to preserve the body's life. All desires should be dealt with in right proportion, some followed, some avoided.
When we next are tempted to sin- we must realize, we are not purely spiritual, we are also physical- otherwise we could not be judged on physical actions we take.

Vatican- Solve source of world problems- not simply the symptoms

The Vatican has encouraged the UN to focus on the causes of world problems- while not ignoring the symptoms. This comes from Archbishop Celestino Miglior, permanent observer representing the Vatican at the United Nations.
The Archbishop is trying to point out that many statements by Nations in the world, only increase hostility- and that basing itself on the Universal Declaration of Human rights- a sad, beautiful result of that horrid Genocide, and battle ruined time- known as the Second World War- The UN showed the importance of peaceful means of achieving goals, and the value of every human life. He said that rhetoric should increase peace- and that peace is another word for development- as peace and development go hand in hand! He was clearly also referring to the violent rhetoric of some nations in recent times.

Why and how we need to inebriate our cultures- with what is healthy and excellence- over the toxic!

Is anyone surprised that so many of our programs and films, and books are imported?
Or our clothes for that matter- freshly printed from possible foreign child labour- in such a way that we are forced to buy these horrid human rights abuse products- simply because almost all the manufacturers use such, and because the shops almost all buy from these.
Is there such a lack for instance, of animated talent in cartoon production in South Africa, or in the natural talent to act or write?
- honestly- I think the real issue is a lack of infrastructure- why don't we promote talent to write stories, for others to animate, or act out? Why doesn't the industry, or us ourselves- take risks, like any aspiring culture?
Now imports are wonderful things- but what is good of imports generally comes from the better traits of men- whereby we should not import culture from the West, but from God.
We love to promote promiscuity, or abortion (seems like article 2 section d of the genocide (UN General Assembly Voted definition) to me, but then again I am Catholic), or so many things through our media- simply because these channels are open- or because all or most of our media it seems by the results, needs an imprimatur- not from bishops or governments- but to ensure it is "liberal enough", either to do only basic good, or else even to damage us. Yes it is metaphoric, but I am sad to see what is allowed, and what is stifled before it is born.
Yes, perhaps there are conservative people in media in South Africa- but since when did we need to resonate what America does with creating structure? Media used to be, like science- almost the sole domain of conservatism- of Religion.
I hear more on our news about a school shooting, than about genocide against Christians in India, and Iraq. It is odd, is not that we so often also import our views, and media..?
Granted- South African views aren't too superior- they are generally just South African- but what if we were serious about trying to rise above culture, and differences- what if we went to our universal root values- and promoted that- in an honest way- rather than being told how to think?
If there were South African Catholic media efforts, I know there are some which i am pleased by, I would want to support them- if they, like a few we already have- were, and are quality that is. Many of us would love to link to stories on U-tube, or to fiction or fact.
My personal efforts are for re-permiating our cultures in Christian world-view, and in Christ- which is why the news, and views we support are so utterly vital.
So often- when Christianity is marginalized, or becomes about every spectrum of view- we ignore every atrocity- or vote with our ancestors, and into what seems best for us alone. This is not truly of benefit to us.
I sit and write with my spare time- and not so spare time- in order to create a sort of quiet revolution- from insanity- where we somtimes now are, and often were so forcefully made to act as what we truly understand within that we aren't and shown and encouraged in the wrong or weak solutions to world and local problems- into a culture filled with life, where we have true freedom- to be what we truly are below all the twisting of desires from good into something not quite ours, beyond our false hopes.
We have hope in our sacraments- our signs and pledges- our mysteries, which are more than they are- and truly- happiness is in this below every other thing.
I invite others to join me- start to expect more- from others- and simply tell the truth about reality- and be open to debate on this. If you are Catholic and South African- help mold our culture through the media- which has so far been used so often against our views. Secularism is a tool, crafted for industry, not an end- it should not be a diversion to what is right. Let us not let a treaty between good people be abused by nothingness, nor let our "popular conscience" guide us against what our society- deep below- truly longs for, below all this complacent, sometimes fearful compliance, and these other false influences.
We have been lied to that immorality is saner- we have had many casualties- but know- whenever you enjoy a bad program, or anything evil- this enjoyment isn't yours- your true desires have been foulded, and put under false measures- so as to make you think you desire this fake hope. It is the broken slithers of truth behind this evil- so distorted by falsehood- you truly do desire, above this inferior substitution!
Feel that truth below- perhaps resonate this message of mine- do not be constrained by your culture or your media- rather realize. The limit of what is natural is what is moral, what is just.
With our media- let's promote exiting justice- and true representations of the world. Eventually we all should sicken at the banal sins constantly repeated to manipulate us on television. Let us move beyond the banal and pathetic, and manipulative- let us evolve back into art, and amazement.
Do not take bad workmanship- demand higher standards- I certainly try to. If we don't start demanding a turn around now- with our wallets, and our feet, and our voices- where will our children's children be? Our ancestors, whatever slander has been spread about them- at least weren't at risk of destroying the planet as we are. Further- they waited until marriage- because they had the strength to, and did justice and showed true stories- because they were able to.

Is anyone surprised that so many of our programs and films, and books are imported?
Or our clothes for that matter- freshly printed from possible foreign child labour- in such a way that we are forced to buy these horrid human rights abuse products- simply because almost all the manufacturers use such, and because the shops almost all buy from these.
Is there such a lack for instance, of animated talent in cartoon production in South Africa, or in the natural talent to act or write?
- honestly- I think the real issue is a lack of infrastructure- why don't we promote talent to write stories, for others to animate, or act out? Why doesn't the industry, or us ourselves- take risks, like any aspiring culture?
Now imports are wonderful things- but what is good of imports generally comes from the better traits of men- whereby we should not import culture from the West, but from God.
We love to promote promiscuity, or abortion (seems like article 2 section d of the genocide (UN General Assembly Voted definition) to me, but then again I am Catholic), or so many things through our media- simply because these channels are open- or because all or most of our media it seems by the results, needs an imprimatur- not from bishops or governments- but to ensure it is "liberal enough", either to do only basic good, or else even to damage us. Yes it is metaphoric, but I am sad to see what is allowed, and what is stifled before it is born.
Yes, perhaps there are conservative people in media in South Africa- but since when did we need to resonate what America does with creating structure? Media used to be, like science- almost the sole domain of conservatism- of Religion.
I hear more on our news about a school shooting, than about genocide against Christians in India, and Iraq. It is odd, is not that we so often also import our views, and media..?
Granted- South African views aren't too superior- they are generally just South African- but what if we were serious about trying to rise above culture, and differences- what if we went to our universal root values- and promoted that- in an honest way- rather than being told how to think?
If there were South African Catholic media efforts, I know there are some which i am pleased by, I would want to support them- if they, like a few we already have- were, and are quality that is. Many of us would love to link to stories on U-tube, or to fiction or fact.
My personal efforts are for re-permiating our cultures in Christian world-view, and in Christ- which is why the news, and views we support are so utterly vital.
So often- when Christianity is marginalized, or becomes about every spectrum of view- we ignore every atrocity- or vote with our ancestors, and into what seems best for us alone. This is not truly of benefit to us.
I sit and write with my spare time- and not so spare time- in order to create a sort of quiet revolution- from insanity- where we somtimes now are, and often were so forcefully made to act as what we truly understand within that we aren't and shown and encouraged in the wrong or weak solutions to world and local problems- into a culture filled with life, where we have true freedom- to be what we truly are below all the twisting of desires from good into something not quite ours, beyond our false hopes.
We have hope in our sacraments- our signs and pledges- our mysteries, which are more than they are- and truly- happiness is in this below every other thing.
I invite others to join me- start to expect more- from others- and simply tell the truth about reality- and be open to debate on this. If you are Catholic and South African- help mold our culture through the media- which has so far been used so often against our views. Secularism is a tool, crafted for industry, not an end- it should not be a diversion to what is right. Let us not let a treaty between good people be abused by nothingness, nor let our "popular conscience" guide us against what our society- deep below- truly longs for, below all this complacent, sometimes fearful compliance, and these other false influences.
We have been lied to that immorality is saner- we have had many casualties- but know- whenever you enjoy a bad program, or anything evil- this enjoyment isn't yours- your true desires have been foulded, and put under false measures- so as to make you think you desire this fake hope. It is the broken slithers of truth behind this evil- so distorted by falsehood- you truly do desire, above this inferior substitution!
Feel that truth below- perhaps resonate this message of mine- do not be constrained by your culture or your media- rather realize. The limit of what is natural is what is moral, what is just.
With our media- let's promote exiting justice- and true representations of the world. Eventually we all should sicken at the banal sins constantly repeated to manipulate us on television. Let us move beyond the banal and pathetic, and manipulative- let us evolve back into art, and amazement.
Do not take bad workmanship- demand higher standards- I certainly try to. If we don't start demanding a turn around now- with our wallets, and our feet, and our voices- where will our children's children be? Our ancestors, whatever slander has been spread about them- at least weren't at risk of destroying the planet as we are. Further- they waited until marriage- because they had the strength to, and did justice and showed true stories- because they were able to.

Yesterday- the Holy Father noted that whatever freedom Christians have- it must never be "Libertinism", he noted that when Saint Peter and Saint Paul disagreed- when Saint Peter would not eat with Gentiles, Saint Paul himself had suggested only eating vegetables to accommodate the weak, but that while one was concerned for the feelings of others- the essence of the Gospel was at risk for the other.
The Holy Father noted we must always live in conformity with Christ.
Catholics, we must note believe of the Law- that one should always act in conformity with truth- so that when the bible abstains us from many, but not all ceremonies of the Old Testament (Acts 15), it does not in the same council permit any action.
God is worshiped in Spirit and Truth- therefore we must worship him in all we do- and in entirety, doing also the external- for he is not only worshiped by our entire inner being ("spirit"), but also in the manifestation of our actions ("truth").
So that every actual sin consists, not only in what God views as insanity- but also in a denial to those watching, and within one's self of truth, and further in the lack of justice due to world and God.
Material sin, also takes the form of such insanity, but of course bears not guilt so far as it is unintentional.

Congo- Missionaries call for backlash against Kivu Rebels- say no ligitimacy in treating them equally with governemt

Agenzia Fides reports that a group of Christian Missionaries (“Congo Peace Network”(Agenzia Fides 29/09/08)) are questioning UN policy of putting government and the Rebel group CNDP of Kivu on the same playing field.
They claim that a Rebel group known for their violent actions- cannot share the same position as a democratically elected government with a popular referendum's constitution. This comes as fighting intensifies.
The leader of the Kivu rebels, Nkunda, continues to be gifted by authorities, with - freedom of movement. This is despite his organization's human rights abuses being decried by secular humanitarian group Amnesty International. Nkunda enjoys protection from the Congo's government from these treaties, making irrelevant- having an arrest warrant pending- for many crimes including extortion. The Rebel group, which profits from illegal mining is also known for recent kidnappings, to further replenish stocks of child soldiers.
The Missionaries consider it dangerous to give such legitimacy to the Rebels, and desire for the UN to act against these. They say that peace treaties organized, have turned out to give a sort of amnesty to these aggressors, who are profiting from the situation.
Despite treaties, the fighting has continued, and the international community seems still to refuse to take sides.

Catholics must get involved with politics, and reject Secularism- Holy See

Secretary of the "Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace", Bishop Giampaolo Crepaldi, spoke yesterday to Italian Catholics- saying that Catholics must vote and vote with the church and get involved in Politics. He criticized the movement to Secularism- saying that the church, as Benedict XVI, had told the church earlier, must get involved with society and politics- in fact- that Christ is indispensable to society- and that Catholics must take an utterly active role in politics.
Background:
Catholics are obligated to vote for the most prudent choice in leaders of their society- and to take an active role in promoting Catholic Morals, and world-view in the public and private arena of their society- making disciples (learners)of all people- but leaving conversion as a choice- but not opposition to Natural Law- which should be permiated within legal systems as what the church might consider their only real justification.
Ideas such as separation of church and state are secular values from the French enlightenment, accompanying a rejection of Catholicism- religious can't take political office, under current canon law- so as to remain objective, and as the Priest cannot hold the sword (Saint Thomas Aquinas), however laymen are encouraged to hold office, and partake in politics- pushing the views and values of Church, and necessity of Christ on society- even as respecting the choice of some to not worship our God- but not their right to blaspheme our religion.

Bishop gives admirable speech- to gay audience that invited him

Sacramento Coadjutor Bishop Jaime Soto recently was keynote speaker at a gay and lesbian catholics conference in America- where he was expected by many to do what some American bishops have done on issues ranging from salvation, to the mass, to abortion- and endorse the heretical* view of the group....
Instead- and I will quote his words of wisdom, and disapproval of the sin these poor persons where they manifested a heretical* view of marriage and were perhaps are separated from the Ecclesiam by-
"[Cal Catholic Daily] But there was noting ambiguous about Bishop Soto’s remarks to the group. “Sexual relations between people of the same sex can be alluring for homosexuals, but it deviates from the true meaning of the act and distracts them from the true nature of love to which God has called us all,” Bishop Soto said. “For this reason, it is sinful. Married love is a beautiful, heroic expression of faithful, life-giving, life-creating love. It should not be accommodated and manipulated for those who would believe that they can and have a right to mimic its unique expression."
At least five members of the audience walked out during the bishop’s address. When he finished speaking, there was general silence -- with only a very small number applauding.
The chairman of the conference then announced that the bishop would answer questions at a reception that would be held in another room. That led to widespread expressions of disapproval from members of the audience, who said they wanted to be able to express their responses immediately. It was agreed that those who wanted to speak would line up. The bishop was told twice by the chairman that he was free to leave if he wanted -- or to stay and listen. Bishop Soto stayed and sat quietly listening to every response.
A series of about eight speakers came to the microphone to express their unhappiness with what the bishop had said -- and what they felt he had not said. One woman said, in essence, "We know what the Church says. What we wanted you to talk about is the value of our lived experience as lesbian women and gay men."
Two speakers -- one man and one woman -- thanked the bishop for his address and voiced their agreement with what he had to say.
While the audience members were responding to the bishop’s remarks, a board member of the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries came up to one of the tables in the room and said, "On behalf of the board, I apologize. We had no idea Bishop Soto was going to say what he said.""

90% of JHB Archdiocese Catholics in the substance of Mortal sin, and lack of priests?

Statistics apparently from the recent Synod- say only 100 000 of the 1 000 000 Catholics in the Archdiocese regularly attend mass- as not attending mass on purpose is a mortal sin- this is very serious.
Some parishes only can have communion once every three months-
This is because of a shortage of priests- our local seminary has had to close large sections- and two schools have become one.
What's the problem- well- we think people need to stop watering down the faith- or lying about the seriousness of sin- if people knew they would go to hell for certain actions, many wouldn't do as they do...
Sadly- often the culprits are representatives of the church- and the diocese, to whom we have sent twice reports of misuse of authority- does not usually respond well- we have even been told to join in, having reported an incident- when on holiday I and another attended a mass where the priest encouraged the parish to commit an abuse of the mass, and also sang happy birthday to a parishioner (a seemingly common event).
One of our foundational doctrines is Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Sallus- outside the sacraments and the church- there is no salvation- except to those who for no fault of their own are not actively in union with the Divine teachings of the church! We are told to attend mass on sundays and days of obligation- and to attend confession yearly.
The issue is grave and until we determine to halt our politically correct talk- or stop the craziness of not preaching, or at least speaking of our religion- a secular value- disobedient to the gospel- we will continue to see short ques at confession- and lax Catholicism at church. God is in the detail- not some sketchy outline- when we gain respect for our ancestors who burnt heretics at the stake- perhaps we realize how important the immortal soul is- we only have one- while our body will be replaced after death.
I don't advocate burning anyone- that only can happen when a just Authority asks for it- and usually when that is that in charge of the land- and I don't say it is any solution- my real point is that we need to clearly preach our religion- to read the bible and catechism as a family at night- and to debate like anything about our beliefs- until such time as we promoted the faith boldly- and decide- not to spare the nation of our values- but to cement them in law- and in vocal objections to immorality- with insistence not to permit evil people to get away with public scandal-
Until we choose to rise as one- and rid our land of the yoke of ignorance- we will continue to hell preaching the secular humanist Philosophy - "don't judge- forgive", rather than the Catholic one- "forgive your brother 77 times a day if he truly repents and asks genuinely for forgiveness- otherwise- treat those who offend against the church- those who call themselves Christians- but aren't- as foreigners..."
Now we treat these people with love- but the bible shows that sometimes love is to tell them they are in sin- and to encourage change by any means possible... Of course- due to business needs and other things- and the nature of the world- we do need to associate with these people- but it does not mean we neglect judging- and truly letting them know the requirements for their salvation!
The Church Militant exists to preach the gospel- to administer the Sacraments- and to manifest glory and bring its members their due.

Hopeful Prayers to try prevent Abortion Bill- Australia- Fides

The Archbishop Denis Hart of Melbourne has sent a request for prayer to Catholic citizens in Melbourne- to combat an abortion bill- similar to those present in South Africa- which would force hospitals to partake in abortion- and be excommunicated from our church, or break the law. A third of births in the region are delivered by Catholic health care- and this follows announcements by the Archbishop that if the bill passes through successfully- the Catholic hospitals will close their maternity wards to not partake in this grievous, scandalous sin- proposed in legislation.
The Archbishop has set up a "Day of Intercession for Life," (Sunday, October 5, 2008), including a vigil at the Saint Patrick's Cathedral- for those planning to pray against this.

A third of births in the region are delivered by Catholic health care- and this follows announcements by the Archbishop that if the bill passes through successfully- the Catholic hospitals will close their maternity wards to not partake in this grievous, scandalous sin- proposed in legislation.
The Archbishop has set up a "Day of Intercession for Life," (Sunday, October 5, 2008), including a vigil at the Saint Patrick's Cathedral- for those planning to pray against this.

Caritas Appeals Successful

Recent appeals by Caritas, as guests invited to a UN summit have paid off, with pledges of about 16 billion dollars in aid to developing nations and such causes.
Caritas notes- they don't need to hear from the UN about poverty- Caritas deals with the poor daily.
President of Caritas, Cardinal Oscar RodrÃguez Maradiaga- said that the pledges are needed to address the impact of climate change on the poorest communities: but notes that the Millennium Development goals, are still decades off the path in Sub-Saharan Africa and other places. Last year aid from the G7 reduced by 1 percent (excluding debt relief), not much- except that when aid is reduced by such in such a large scale- one in a hundred people who were supported, will no longer be entitled to this. The organization of Catholic Charities can't comprehend how 700 billion dollars is so easily requested in the US for a lost gamble by banks- but 10 000 000 children dying on a yearly rate, of causes that are so easily prevented- do not get the label of crises.
This comes following the proposed 700 billion dollar bailout of US banking giants.
The relatively small contributions however will help the continent. They will also go to some extent of fulfilling promises neglected largely by rich nations to the developing world.

Peter and the sheet! What infallibility means- literally speaking!

Saint Peter is Famous for being told to eat unclean food on a sheet- by God- and being told he was wrong to call it unclean.
The notable thing is not that God calls all unclean- or clean- he doesn't- acts 15 proves this- but that he shall determine that- not Peter- but Peter's authority in this is instantly accepted by all the important Christians he speaks with on this.
Karls point, unlike my own- is not on Peter though- but his belief that Cornellius has a more important conversion than that of Saint Paul- as he opened the way for us Gentiles to receive Christ! The fulfillment of Isaac's prophesy- when he appears to lie to Abraham about being firstborn!

What is most sane- what is most Orthodox?

When we speak of Orthodoxy- often we actually mean fidelity- or else remaining within an organization's party line.
We sometimes also believe the Orthodox way- to refer to the better, or true, or historic means of doing something!
But what is Orthodoxy? It is not the go-between between liberalism and conservatism, nor liberalism and traditionalism- neither is it traditionalism, conservatism or liberalism- each of which periodically changes meaning.
Orthodoxy- cannot be subjected to any one viewpoint- yet- it often refers to what a viewpoint believes as true.
In truth- orthodoxy is the pursuit of truth above all- and the determination to obey this truth utterly- the problem then is how one defines truth.
If truth is what an organization, or consensus says it is- then Orthodoxy is perhaps fidelity to that Organization- otherwise- Orthodoxy is fidelity to Reality- to the pursuit of manifesting to the world what is as it is.
Ultimately- the early Christians were killed for being what society saw as insane- they preached that someone recently alive had risen from a horrid death- had eaten on rising, and could be eaten body and soul in the Eucharist, and survived- and would spare or condemn us all for our single smallest thoughts- and lifestyle- more than that- that this person was God himself- and gives ceremonies to people- which could free them from bad lifestyles.
For this- they were whipped, slaughtered and martyred. Even they admitted they appeared insane- "foolish" (Saint Paul) to all apposing them!
Those who were martyred, believed it was the most sane course of action- they were loyal to their view of truth- to their take on sanity- and for this utter pursuit- show that they absolutely believed what they taught.
Those who use words like liberty- use a word referring to freedom- therefore- whenever the status quot changes- that which is more liberal changes- and also that which is more traditional or conservative.
Orthodoxy- the form given by God- is the pursuit of truth with all our soul, and body- and manifestation of this in obedience to sanity in truth in every moment of existence.
True Orthodoxy is the pursuit of truth above all else- not scientific truth- nor philosophical truth- but rather truth itself- which manifest so often in the intuitive!

Heresy watch- how to spot bad doctrine- even from bishops, and why sometimes the heirachi errs!
(Scripturelink Catholic Watchdog South Africa)Now, we know that the magisterium of the church speaks from God- but that the individual bishops do not divinely preach the faith- but rather are trained to be good judges of heresy.
Unfortunately- many bishops- the heirs of Arius, and Eusebus- choose to front ideas not from inside the church- but from their culture and society.
Politics makes this worse- people are told to attend protestant churches, or not to put their moral code on others- or not to judge in any circumstance- or to forgive without justice or repentance-
So, how do we attempt to save our beloved church from such-
from an environment where Orthodoxy is often punished,
and separatist groups sometimes grow faster than the church?
The answer firstly is to focus on yourself!
If the litergy is abused- make sure this is in no way your sin.
If you read something from a church authority- judge it according to what you are accustomed to hearing from a bishop, and try to find what the source of this information is.
Is it the infallible Magisterium, or a bishop's personal opinion.
Opinion is oft unfortunately disguised as dogma- books like the "Modern Catholic Encyclopedia", carrying imprimatur often attack the teachings of the magisterium- this particular book's one author attacks the divinity of Christ.
Another popular book to be sold by Catholic bookstores is "a concise history of the church", it claims to be more conserative- but its statements about confession fall under the anathemas of Trent, and it often misrepresents information.
Other heirachical structures say that all religions are equal- and we must not judge or preach to those of other faiths- or must keep away from making laws in accordance with our morality.
Simply put- those things which come from the Traditions we are told in the bible to always hold to, those who hold to what we heard in the start- are those who are not pruned off of the vine, which is Christ.
When listening to a priest, confessor, bishop, diocesan official-
Be realistic- they are as likely to fall into heresy as any person here-
They are better trained at times, though often Seminary can be the source of their problems- rather - look into the backing of what they say- see where in the magisterium and tradition their words corrolate-
If you cannot find a correlation, but only a rough meaning they wrongly believe to be the "spirit" of works, like the spirit of a crowd, then discount their statement, and look into what the truth is- further- try to aid your fellows in this truth.
Unfortunately two things often occur- firstly, the best of speakers are misquoted, or misunderstood- or speak in a specific context.
Secondly- some bishops and priests and deacons and laymen believe they have a grasp of Catholicism, but without the true Reality of it within- and so front what their culture tells them to, or what that more radical teacher at seminary said.
With both- discussion of your scandal (harm caused by another's sin on a fellow) at this- may either clarify the issue, or save your fellows from the heresy of but one small section of the church- acting in isolation from truth.
Now- a small amount of good in an evil organization has an evil effect- in justifying and maintaining the evil, but a small amount of evil in a good organization- while it should be cleaved off- does not always affect the working of the whole- and it is God who works in the Divine Magisterium, and in the Sacraments- the mortal state of the worker of these- is not needed to be safe for them to work.
As even the Early church said- the feet are not to be the head of the church-
yet, the bishops will have to answer for how they pruned the flock of God.
It is those guilty of sin, or who are silent about this- who partake fully in it.
Admittadly the Church, in western society- has in some places a deadly cancer-
But organizations like Opus Dei, and like internet apolostates, and the Vatican website- are there- but we must not rely on others solely to grow us- we must ourselves research the truth, even as the inspiring Catechism of Baltemore- tells us to!
