Known for it's defense of the Catholic position against the use of condoms, purportedly to fight the pandemic of HIV/AIDS, and for being a journal which is purportedly vetted by Vatican officials, the Jesuit La Civiltà Cattolica (The Catholic Civilization) Journal, is known for something modern Jesuits, are not generally known for in recent times, if Catholic watchdogs are to be believed: perceived fidelity to the Catholic Faith.

The La Civiltà Cattolica journal, was noted on the 17th of February 2006, by Pope Benedict XVI:

"I am pleased to welcome you with all those who collaborate with you in various capacities. I know and appreciate the work that the Journal has carried out at the Church's service since 1850, when Bl. Pius IX, my Predecessor of venerable memory, founded it. He then endowed it with a permanent special statute that established its special connection with the Holy See."

This same journal, which American Papist, a prominent Catholic service notes, via a quotation: is vetted by the Vatican (American Papist (Catholic; Independent; American) 22 / 05 (May) / 2006), when it was then defending the position of the church against the use of Condoms in the fight against HIV/AIDS, has again taken a stand, which is news making.

In an article, seemingly by La Civiltà Cattolica, which seemingly laments, that Catholics still are perceived as funding some press organizations:

"La Civiltà Cattolica", has been noted by a "Catholic Culture" news brief, as ("Catholic Culture" (American; Catholic; Independent) 01 / 05 (May) / 2009) apparently claiming severe media bias, against the Catholic Church in some Western Media : as seen in this English translation, as taken off "Catholic Culture" (additions by this service in "[]"):

The word "lay": refers to "laity": to Catholics; who do not hold Holy Orders in the Catholic church. The so-called "lay front", seemingly refers largely to those attacking Pope Benedict XVI, or Catholic Doctrine, that is: in Europe or Italy, or to those supporting publications which do. The Holy See is is not in agreement with a UN document, which they contributed to: due to the fact that vital parts are excluded, and other acts are unwisely, or politically: allowed. The document includes parts still allowing for killing off, sterializing, or selectively aborting those with disabilities. All of these would be called genocide: if the world would acknowlege that the young and disabled are truly a section of humaniy, as much as hair colour, or race or belief allows for a group to be named as a valid population group.

The Vatican believes that killing disabled people will not cure the problem of discriminating against them. The actual issues were pointed out by the president of a Christian group in Italy: applauding the Catholic City State's choice not to sign the document. 23b and 25a, are the issues pointed out by the "Christians for Service" association.

Comments by the Vatican itself, are only indirectly hinted at by EWTN. Their reasons for not signing however seem to be due to the ideologically motivated flaws in the document. Their refusal followed a request to allow for additional clauses to close off the possibility of such genocide or "euthanasia" against the disabled.

The Nuncios of both Angola and Cameroon, have joyously welcomed the announcement of plans by Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI to visit their countries.

With the first local from Angola being Baptized in 1491- before America was even discovered, and a population which is more Catholic than anything else- with a percentage of higher than 50% Catholic- not only the church, but media in the country are very enthusiastic about the visit, where the pope will bless a peace process, and economic progress in a country which still has real poverty needs.

Cameroon's Nuncio is also glad to have been chosen by the Papacy, to be the place where preparations for an African Synod in Rome will be made- noting that John Paul the Second also chose to visit the nation, which is apparently, if the Nuncio assigned to it is to be taken as a good source- ideal as it has both English and French as well used languages. Both languages are each separately, and often somewhat exclusive of one another- commonalities in many African countries.

Cameroon is about 25% Catholic.

Vatican to UN- Malaria still a threat- poor need treatment

The Permanent observer of the Vatican to the United Nations- has highlighted the plight of millions, who contract malaria each year. At least two people die every sixty seconds from a disease which is preventable. The Vatican is concerned that the poor are missing out on being cured of a curable disease, and have asked for further efforts in this field.

BBC is reporting that a large number of pictures combined in a montage as one- of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI have been placed, covered in symbology of Nazi Germany on a website run by supporters of Yalla Kadima, Israel's most popular political party. This follows previous attacks by Israelis on the courageous efforts of Pope Pius XII, which involved the risk of his own life to defend Jews undergoing at the time Nazi persecution, in which they said he could have "done more", some of these earlier attacks came from the first non-Christian, a Jewish speaker- ever invited to a recent Catholic Synod on the bible. Pope Pius XII is being considered for canonization.

According to the BBC- the Israeli government considers the Vatican to be "pro-Palestinian" and there are issues between Holy Mother church- and Israel such as problems with visas, as well as disagreements over taxation of church properties.

Tzipi Livni, the leader of the party some of whose supporters placed the images on a website used by activists of the party, who is trying to become Israel's prime minister- is said to have personally asked for the removal of the montage. Apparently, according to a spokesperson claiming to represent the leader of the party concerned, just before the montage was removed that is- the views expressed on the site are not an accurate reflection of the views of the party. It is odd- that when attempting to promote Jewish interests, as regards the Holocaust - that those responsible should themselves partake in the defamation of religious figures- and the propagation of negative sentiments of another's religion- especially as this is the very foundation of the Holocaust they experienced.

Other issues with Israel reported- include the wording of the "Yad Vashem" holocaust memorial- which is less than kind to Pope Pius XII, and represents a view of the World War II pope- which the Vatican cannot possibly agree with- based (The Vatican's view that is) on the actual history of what occured.

His Excellency- Holy Father- Pope Benedict XVI has again taken a stand against materialism, and selfish market speculation, as well as against the inordinate way in which funds are spent selfishly on sophisticated military technology by many developed nations- rather than on food security. He says that these actions are a cause of the World Food Crisis. This he said to the director of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, in written form.

Benedict XVI believes that materialism- which only aims at physical goods- shows a misunderstanding of the divine dignity of the human person, who was elevated to great lengths when God chose to become man.

The reckless decisions by western governments and those who vote for these persons to gain power- has a much larger effect on the poor than on western voters. The recent financial crisis for instance is estimated to cost 100 million people their livelihood- the hardest hit majority of these will be on the African continent.

Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has once again fronted the truth that the church and state can live in harmony- showing how the Vatican and Italy have been able to respect each one's sovereignty. However- he believes that the freedom the church requires in God should not be limited to freedom to practice religion- but also freedom to influence the political and public square of the ever varying and sometimes hostile environments, in which she finds herself.

Once again, while allowing states to be run by laymen, or by foreigners to the church, Benedict- while respecting the concept- the Priest must never bear the sword (Summa Theologica- Saint Thomas Aquinas- Doctor of the Church), Benedict XVI once again shows us how vital it is for Catholics to become inebriated in grace- within the political spectrum- so as not only locally, but certainly locally- but also through the use of states- the universal truth may be made clearly known- and good may be fought for, as it once was yielded against the Donatists, when they thought they could murder with impunity.

Church and state are separate- but not layman and state- and nor should the morals guiding the church and the morals of the state be separate- rather the laws of the land must be made to reflect the laws of conscience and church. The Catholic is obligated to influence the political scene in which he exists, and the church has every right to be shown very publicly to be true.

Benedict XVI understands more than many that the church is the conscience of the state, and its watchdog- it must be fully empowered through allowance of it in the Public Realm- so as to permit it to do the work of fighting for what is right and true, through itself and through governments. Church and state may be two separate powers, but they exist in but one reality, with one God- and as such must be on the same side- least the state turn on the church as in Vietnam currently- where the Bishops are asking for our prayers.

Once again- Benedict XVI shows us the importance of voting for those who best reflect the church- and of having the church as a public teacher and warning for all our brothers in humanity!

With the article from the Vatican itself emphasizing the amount of feminine experts attending- the Church will on Sunday have opened their 12th "general assembly of the Synod of Bishops"( Catholic Culture 03/10/08).

Events include a Jewish Rabbi who will speak of the Jewish perspective on scriptures. Also attending are many experts, as well as delegates from the Eastern Orthodox churches, Lutherans, Anglicans, and others.

The Pope recently asked that legislation to combat terrorism, must not be "unjust or inhumane" (CathNews 03/10/08). This follows harsh anti-terrorism laws in countries including the United States of America.

Yesterday- the Holy Father noted that whatever freedom Christians have- it must never be "Libertinism", he noted that when Saint Peter and Saint Paul disagreed- when Saint Peter would not eat with Gentiles, Saint Paul himself had suggested only eating vegetables to accommodate the weak, but that while one was concerned for the feelings of others- the essence of the Gospel was at risk for the other.

The Holy Father noted we must always live in conformity with Christ.

Catholics, we must note believe of the Law- that one should always act in conformity with truth- so that when the bible abstains us from many, but not all ceremonies of the Old Testament (Acts 15), it does not in the same council permit any action.

God is worshiped in Spirit and Truth- therefore we must worship him in all we do- and in entirety, doing also the external- for he is not only worshiped by our entire inner being ("spirit"), but also in the manifestation of our actions ("truth").

So that every actual sin consists, not only in what God views as insanity- but also in a denial to those watching, and within one's self of truth, and further in the lack of justice due to world and God.

Material sin, also takes the form of such insanity, but of course bears not guilt so far as it is unintentional.

Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican secretary of state yesterday stated that secularism, which is in his opinion void of values, politics, and all such things must only be means by which the values of God are implemented within the world, stating that without Christ- states quickly learn to ignore the greater good.

He identified the recent financial crisis, the "credit crunch" in the developed would as evidence of what happens when societies aim for the short-term above what is beneficial over the long term.

Some sources claim that the recent crisis would have been entirely avoided if a 1992 bill sponsored by political presidential candidate- McCain had been successful- the entire financial crisis in America would not have occured.

A voice from within the bishops, recently gave the US government five principles on which to fix the crisis. (c.f. Zenit News 29/09/08).

Catholic Culture reports- that in announcing their theme for "World Day Of Social Communications"(Sunday 31 May 2009)(Vatican Information Service 30/09/08)- the Vatican emphasizes building relationships, dialog and friendship.

Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, president of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, is the source of these words, and pointed out that the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, believes media can create the atmospheres that create dialog and trust.

The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI- on the 27th of September stated, at World Tourism Day 2008, at the Papal summer residence in- Castelgandolfo- that correct management of the environment is not only moral but beneficial, and necessary. He noted something he called "social tourism"(VIS 27/09/08)(Agenzia Fides 29/9/2008), and that environmental responsibility is not only part of a healthy economy- but beneficial to those who practice it prudently.

Catholics must get involved with politics, and reject Secularism- Holy See

Secretary of the "Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace", Bishop Giampaolo Crepaldi, spoke yesterday to Italian Catholics- saying that Catholics must vote and vote with the church and get involved in Politics. He criticized the movement to Secularism- saying that the church, as Benedict XVI, had told the church earlier, must get involved with society and politics- in fact- that Christ is indispensable to society- and that Catholics must take an utterly active role in politics.

Background:

Catholics are obligated to vote for the most prudent choice in leaders of their society- and to take an active role in promoting Catholic Morals, and world-view in the public and private arena of their society- making disciples (learners)of all people- but leaving conversion as a choice- but not opposition to Natural Law- which should be permiated within legal systems as what the church might consider their only real justification.

Ideas such as separation of church and state are secular values from the French enlightenment, accompanying a rejection of Catholicism- religious can't take political office, under current canon law- so as to remain objective, and as the Priest cannot hold the sword (Saint Thomas Aquinas), however laymen are encouraged to hold office, and partake in politics- pushing the views and values of Church, and necessity of Christ on society- even as respecting the choice of some to not worship our God- but not their right to blaspheme our religion.

Caritas Appeals Successful

Recent appeals by Caritas, as guests invited to a UN summit have paid off, with pledges of about 16 billion dollars in aid to developing nations and such causes.

Caritas notes- they don't need to hear from the UN about poverty- Caritas deals with the poor daily.

President of Caritas, Cardinal Oscar Rodríguez Maradiaga- said that the pledges are needed to address the impact of climate change on the poorest communities: but notes that the Millennium Development goals, are still decades off the path in Sub-Saharan Africa and other places. Last year aid from the G7 reduced by 1 percent (excluding debt relief), not much- except that when aid is reduced by such in such a large scale- one in a hundred people who were supported, will no longer be entitled to this. The organization of Catholic Charities can't comprehend how 700 billion dollars is so easily requested in the US for a lost gamble by banks- but 10 000 000 children dying on a yearly rate, of causes that are so easily prevented- do not get the label of crises.

This comes following the proposed 700 billion dollar bailout of US banking giants.

The relatively small contributions however will help the continent. They will also go to some extent of fulfilling promises neglected largely by rich nations to the developing world.

Holy See tells UN to Deliver on Africa- and preserve culture

On Monday the 22 of September 2008- the Permanent observer of the Vatican at the UN- gave a speech on Africa's development.

The Holy See of the Beloved Catholic church, through their permanent observer to the United Nations- Archbishop Celestino Migliore, has appealed for focus on Africa- it says Africa has made much progress- but not enough to alleviate poverty. It has the youngest average population but also the youngest average age of death.

Despite many differences in culture and diversity- African countries have taken great strides. The United Nations, according to the Archbishop has enshrined in its charter pursuit of Peace and Prosperity for all. Something where Africa still has great chasms which suffer without these.

Africa- according to the Archbishop- needs to gain a sense of ownership of its own land. Further- the UN must take concrete action on plans involving the continent.

The Catholic church is said to be vital in fighting problems on African soil- and in caring for the sick.

The African sense of community is a positive influence- and pursuit of development- according to the observer- must not erode the good elements of the diverse cultures in Africa.

Archbishop Celestino was addressing the UN in a meeting on Africa and her development needs- on Monday the 22 of September 2008.
