Catholic Charities withdraw support for "Obama Contraceptive 'Compromise'"

Catholic Charities withdraw support for "Obama Contraceptive 'Compromise'"
over contraception mandate, political manipulation by White house
They have now joined those politicians holding the majority in The House of Representatives, and the United States' Conference of Catholic Bishops in airing caution, uncertainty, after their statements were used by Obama to political ends against Catholics.

Washington D.C., Feb 14, 2012 / 06:07 am (CNA).- Catholic Charities USA issued a new statement voicing uncertainty over the Obama administration's “accommodation” for religious freedom within its ...

White House lied, claiming 98% of Catholic women disobey Catholic church on contraception

USA media unforgivably misquoted contraception study, In Fact the study claims: Less than +-87% of USA Catholic women who want to prevent childbirth, use artificial contraception
The Study is restricted to women who purposely don't want to get pregnant, thus at the start excluding families who are open to children generally. It also Notes that 11% of Catholic women don't use any contraception in this restricted study. Yet media simply subtract the Fertility Awareness figure to get the their result!

"First, this survey suffers from what I call the “Nonsmokers smoke Marlboros” problem. At the top of a survey, ask: “Are you a smoker or a nonsmoker?” and lots of people who smoke will self-identify as “nonsmokers.” Later, ask, “What brand of cigarettes do you smoke?” and they will say, “Definitely Marlboro Lights!” Ergo, nonsmokers smoke Marlboros.

The results are even more skewed if you ask people at the top of a survey what religion they are. People who have never darkened the door of a Catholic Church will happily mark “Catholic” on such a survey. The behavior they report will count for or against Catholics the same regardless of their actual contact with Catholicism.

This particular survey even admits that less than a third of its “Catholic” respondents even go to Mass once a week.

So, what do we know from the start: We aren’t dealing with practicing Catholics. In fact, a two-thirds majority of the Catholics in the survey are not eligible to receive communion, according to the U.S. bishops (see page 9), since they skip their Sunday obligation.

McGrew directs us to more problems, in the asterisk at the bottom. There we learn that the survey is: “Restricted to sexually active women who are not pregnant, post-partum, or trying to get pregnant.”

So think of who would be included and excluded from this study:

Included: Unmarried teens and young women who sleep with their boyfriends.
Excluded: Unmarried teens and young women who follow the Church’s teaching on chastity.
Included: Married women who are actively avoiding pregnancy.
Excluded: Married women who are not particularly watching whether they get pregnant or not.
Included: Promiscuous party girls.
Excluded: Nuns.
No wonder so many of them are using contraception! But the funny thing is, even once you include mostly lapsed Catholics and eliminate anyone who might mess up your number, it still isn’t true to say 98% are using contraception.

They got that by subtracting the 2% of NFP users in their chart from the 100% of respondents. But look at the chart. It says 11% are using “no method.” By my math, it should be at least 13% not using contraception.

The most shocking news, though, is that the White House is spreading false information about Catholicism in order to provide cover as it removes religious liberties for Catholic organizations.
White House: Retract this statement and correct the record. Stop misinforming the public about my religion for your purposes."

Niki Minaj Mocks Catholics, fake dates 'pope', mocks exorcism, at the Grammy Awards

Niki Minaj Mocks Catholics at the Grammy Awards
Fake Exorcism, mock date with fake pope, mockery of Catholic beliefs about the existence of the supernatural and of dark forces!

"Minaji sent the blogosphere into overdrive early in the evening when she arrived on the red carpet supposedly channeling her "Roman Zolanski" alter ego. That required a custom-made Atelier Versace outfit consisting of a blood-red, nun-inspired satin robe. Her "date" was an older man dressed to resemble the pope.

The rapper then debuted a new song from her forthcoming album "Roman Reloaded," taking religious symbolism to a whole new level of weirdness. Her "performance" consisted of an onstage exorcism, seemingly on herself, complete with levitations, fire, lighting and gibberish. As a white-hooded, goth-like church choir sang a chilling rendition of "Come All Ye Faithful," Minaj strapped herself to a leather table and was lifted into the air as flames burned beneath.

The mood backstage was a mixture of confusion, embarrassment and offense as the performance dragged on, going deeper and deeper in mocking Catholic faith. In a pre-taped skit which was broadcast before her live showdown, Minaj sang "I Feel Pretty," while putting on lipstick to set the stage for the insanity, and the same priest-figure was brought into her room to find out what was wrong with the "sick child.""

So sad! Catholic monks just somewhat sell treasures entrusted to them over the years

So sad! Catholic monks just somewhat sell treasures entrusted to them over the years
Sacred objects and those given and inscribed as gifts to monks at abbey sold like items at a garage sale, when they downgrade premises! The Catholic Herald suggests it may have been better to give them back to donars or find them another home.

"This week’s print edition of The Catholic Herald, in this week’s Charterhouse column, contains a very remarkable article which you will not have seen on this website. It is a stinging critique, by John Gummer (also now confusingly known as Lord Deben), of the actions of the 11 Benedictine monks of Ramsgate Abbey, and in particular of their abbot. The Ramsgate Benedictines have moved into smaller and more manageable premises: and on doing so, they have put up many of their treasures for sale by auction. (For the Herald’s news report, see here.)

“What has shocked many in the Catholic world,” says Lord Deben, was “to put on the secular market the sacred vessels made for the abbey or bequeathed to it by generations of the faithful: chalices used by generations of abbots and inscribed by their donors”:

I went to the viewing to find heartbreaking examples of impiety. Under a table was a cardboard box full of assorted “silver plates and dishes”: the catalogue’s misdescription of patens inscribed in memory of those who loved the abbey and the Faith it had nurtured in them… There were altar candlesticks with the Benedictine insignia, monstrances and reliquaries, incense boats and cruets, higgledy piggledy with games trophies, sports cups and school shields.

Yet most outrageous of all were the chalices and patens. A recusant cup… was pushed in on a shelf of holy vessels displayed as if they were of no more account than a range of golf club tankards. Yet once they had held the blood of the Lamb. Given by the faithful, taken by their shepherds, now left to be bought by whoever, for whatever.
“If the monks felt that they no longer needed what they had been given,” Lord Deben concludes, “they should have given [it] where it could be used and valued”. There is frankly not much more to be said; and many will share his anger and disgust."

Obama attempts to deceive American Public with non-negotiated not compromise: attacks Catholics for objecting

(SACNS Americas News; Scripturelink Catholic Voters' Guide and Politics; Social Justice South Africa)

Obama attempts to deceive American Public with non-negotiated not compromise
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops claim that the mandate that insurance companies provide contraception, abortion pills, sterilization free of charge to the Catholic Church and its institutions, is a deception. They say they will still indirectly pay for the services, and that the conscience opt out must be both for buyers and for sellers of insurance, as pregnancy they say is not a disease. Obama supporters such as the Catholic Health Association's leaders who some claim to have negotiated the change, along with some democrats have seemingly withdrawn support for a bill allowing opting out of providing money for preventing life being born.

"The bishops had initially called the compromise “a first step in the right direction.” But late Friday they released a second statement saying that the plan raised “a grave moral concern.” Mr. Doerflinger said the reason was that they did not see the rule itself until 7 p.m.; the administration official said, however, that the new rule had not been written yet because the details had not been hashed out, and that the bishops must have read the old rule.

The bishops also were dismayed that the administration did not consult them in crafting the compromise, presenting it to them as a fait accompli.

Mr. Doerflinger said, “We were not part of the negotiation and we were told there wasn’t one by the White House.”

The bishops used the turn of events to renew their objections to the broad requirement that was part of the sweeping health care overhaul passed in 2010 that any employer who has a moral or religious objection — even a small business owner — must offer birth control in their insurance coverage because it is preventive care.

“All the other mandated ‘preventive services’ prevent disease, and pregnancy is not a disease,” the bishops said.
Jackie Calmes, Charlie Savage and Matt Flegenheimer contributed reporting."

• ABC and NBC waited 16 days to cover the anti-Catholic ruling, finally citing the new rule on "This Week" and "Meet the Press" on February 5.

Brazillian acceptance as a culture - of Pedophilia a huge barrier in getting Catholic leaders to act on abuse- Vatican expert

Tolerance of adults dating children and adolescents in Brazil, means that the church itself, unlike in Europe and North America, faces a culture that sees Pedophilia as a good thing. Brazil's sexual preferences and lack of church control of what is decent or not, and the presence of the smallest womens' swimwear in the world, tend to affirm rather than deny this evidence of a Vatican psychologist!

""There is no idea of what could or should be done," Father Edenio Valle, a psychologist who advises the National Conference for Brazilian Bishops (CNBB) and provides counselling for priests, told a Vatican meeting on the issue.

"Effective measures and procedures on the part of the Church in the short, medium and long term, as far as I know, are not being planned," he said.

"Underlying problems are not seriously debated," he added.

"There are no places of refuge, recuperation and care for the victims. Generally, they are just removed from the scene," he said.

Valle said there was a willingness in the Brazilian Church - partly due to the Vatican's insistence - to find "competent and urgent answers," but that this was made more difficult by greater cultural tolerance for paedophilia.
"This relative moderation in relation to the scandals of Catholic fathers is due to the fact that paedophilia and ephebophilia are behaviours that are culturally more tolerated in Brazil than in Europe and North America," he said."

Russia drills into Antarctic Lake not accessed in over 20 million years
Despite rumours of their demise in -80 degrees Fahrenheit, a Russian Scientific team succeed in penetrating over 2 miles (3,768 metres) into the depths of Antarctic Lake Vostok

"The buried lake may be similar to the conditions on Mars and Jupiter’s moon Europa, Ria Novosti said.

The Lake Vostok project has been years in the making, with initial drilling at the massive lake -- 6,060 square miles (15,690 square kilometers) -- starting in 1998. The scientists were quickly able to reach 11,800 feet (3,600 meters), but had to stop due to concerns of possible contamination of the never-before-touched lake water.

The scientists came up with a clever way to make sure the water would not be contaminated: They agreed to drill until a sensor warned them of free water. At that point they took out the kerosene and adjusted the pressure so that none of the liquids would fall into the lake, but rather lake water would rise through the hole due to pressure from below.

The Russians are not alone in such a mission: Scientists from around the world are literally racing to explore the mysteries of Antarctica. There are two other Antarctic digs underway.

A team from the British Antarctic Survey is on a competing mission, set to plumb the depths of Lake Ellsworth, one of a string of more than 370 lakes beneath Antarctica that may soon see light for the first time. And a third Antarctic expedition -- a study of the subglacial Whillans Ice Stream -- mainly features U.S. scientists."

Johannesburg Catholic School sex scandal: Grade 8s allegedly forced to 'rape' school 'chair' and 'bus seat' by Matrics (Seniors)
The MEC for Education's spokeswoman says if true the alleged gang behaviour violates the law. The School's representative released a statement condemning the behaviour if true, and stating they would put the welfare of the grade 8s allegedly victimized first

With school 'initiation' repeatedly hitting headlines, since the sexual abuse alleged at Parktown, a Catholic school has gotten its own share of the spotlight. The Offense while not the same as Parktown, still violates the law and is sexual abuse if proven to be more than just alleged. Mock rapes also would suggest real rapes to come, making this perhaps more serious than the terrible human rights abuses alleged at other school settings.

The prompt response to media, by the school not the SACBC which likely wouldn't respond, in this case (by the school) is a good sign. The SACBC Southern African Catholic Bishops Conference, under the very unprofessional press leadership of Fr Chris Townsend, usually ignores any media requests on scandalous accusations or punishes journalist, such as the SACNS for reporting on them (we now get SACBC press releases long after papers such as the Mail and Guardian after refusing to censor an interview we did).

"Education spokesperson Charles Phahlane said Education MEC Barbara Creecy phoned the St David's Marist Inanda school on Saturday about the allegation.

"If this is true, it is very serious because it violates the SA Schools Act and the Sexual Offences Act," Phahlane said.

Headmaster Malcolm Williams and chief executive of the school, Mike Greeff, said in a statement that the school board, management and the staff condemned conduct that intimidated, humiliated or frightened anyone."

Michael Bloomberg (New York), head of Bonanza Oil (Dallas), Credo, others pledge money for abortionists, as Komen calls fowl over Planned Parenthood campaign against them

(SACNS Americas News; Scripturelink Voters' Guide)

Marc Aupiais - 17:54 - Public

Michael Bloomberg (New York), head of Bonanza Oil (Dallas), Credo, others pledge money for abortionists, as Komen calls fowl over Planned Parenthood campaign against them

Due to a Federal investigation of whether or not Planned Parenthood illegally misused funding for other processes to perform abortions, Komen withdrew funding under existing rules about federal investigations. The move prompted an active campaign by Abortionists and their friends to harm Komen. Similar to one against AT&T in 1991. Now, The Amy and Lee Fikes' Foundation of Bonanza Oil Co. in Dallas, pledged $250,000, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would match the next $250,000 and Credo, a mobile-phone company, promised $200,000 to fund Abortion firm Planned Parenthood.

"Planned Parenthood Federation of American received $400,000 from 6,000 donors as of Feb. 1. More pledges were made yesterday though the group didn't have an updated amount, said Shawn Rhea, an organization spokeswoman. Three large donors had surfaced: The Amy and Lee Fikes' Foundation, run by the head of closely held Bonanza Oil Co. in Dallas, pledged $250,000; New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would match the next $250,000; and Credo, a mobile-phone company, promised $200,000.

The Komen foundation's decision not to continue grants for 16 of 19 local Planned Parenthood affiliates sparked questions about its motives after Planned Parenthood said the action was prompted by pressure from anti-abortion forces. Critics and supporters filled the Internet with comment and petitions.

"This is a difficult issue made more difficult by the gross mischaracterization" of Komen's intent, Elizabeth Thompson, the Dallas-based group's president, said yesterday in a conference call with reporters.

Komen initiated a review of grant criteria and included a rule denying money to any organization under federal, state or local investigation, Chief Executive Officer Nancy Brinker said during the call.

House Inquiry

The foundation cited as a reason for withdrawing funding a probe by Representative Cliff Stearns, a Florida Republican and chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, into whether New York-based Planned Parenthood is illegally using government money for abortions.

No other group has been told it won't be receiving grants under the new criteria, though some "probably do" provide abortions, Brinker said. "We ask a lot of questions" of grantees, "but that's not one of them."

Komen, which provides $93 million in grants to local communities for breast-cancer education, screening and treatment, is known for the pink ribbons it first distributed to breast-cancer survivors and participants of the Komen New York City Race for the Cure in 1991, according to its website. The foundation, among the largest breast-cancer advocacy groups in the U.S., also funds research on the disease. Brinker founded the group in 1982 after her sister, Susan G. Komen, died of breast cancer.

"The essence of the organization" has been obscured by the Planned Parenthood dispute, Brinker said on the call. "-San Francisco Chronicle (SF Gate) 'Komen Says Criticism Unfounded as Planned Parenthood Gains Funds' Elizabeth Lopatto and Anna Edney, Bloomberg News on Monday, February 6, 2012

White / European / Caucasian, call it what you want, but South Africa's lighter skinned residents face extinction according to a recent study
Race Relations report attributes low birth rates and high immigration, ignoring the fact... white South Africans are the subject of Government imposed discrimination.

Ruling party officials including the President, Jacob Zuma, have claimed that English speaking whites are not true South Africans.

The ANC, every election, campaigns on the basis that Whites are a threat to the population. Parts of the country, due to intimidation, are not safely accessible to whites.

"Farm Murders", similar to the land invasions of Zimbabwe are now commonplace, especially against farmers who won't give or sell their land to the government, to be given to black communities who are the grassroots support of the Ruling Africanist Political Party: the ANC or African National Congress. The study authors site a growing mixed race population as a cause for concern, given the possibility of a court case to give a child of a white and black the same rights / benefits as black South Africans in a workplace where discrimination against non-whites is legally enforced.

"Johannesburg - If a new study is anything to go by, South Africa’s white population may be extinct by the year 2161.

A new report by the South African Institute of Race Relations revealed that the country’s white population was declining by about 0.3% every five years.

The decline has been attributed by the institute to lowered fertility rates affecting the middle class across all population groups, as well to continued white emigration.

City Press extrapolated the figures and discovered that, if the current decline trends persisted, white South Africans would be extinct by the year 2161.
Figures contained in the institute’s yearly South Africa Survey showed that South Africa’s white and Indian population were declining, while the country’s coloured and black African population groups were growing."
