Apple's new dream child has deep problems! The New Mac Retina... leaves ghost images after they are gone!

Ghosting reported on some Retina MacBook Pro screens.

Uh oh: trouble in paradise. The best feature of the best product announced at Apple's recent WWDC conference, the Retina display on the new high-end MacBook Pros, is itself a potential source of problems, according to some users.

When an image is left on screen for a while, a "ghost" version of that image remains after the image is gone (see picture below).

Time to bring back the screensaver for it's originally intended purpose?

'"The House of Commons (parliament) commission welcomed the proposal to rename the clock tower Elizabeth Tower in recognition of Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and will arrange for this decision to be implemented in an appropriate manner in due course," a House of Commons spokesman said.

The ornate, 96-metre high neo-Gothic tower features four gilded clock faces, and was completed in 1859. The tower took its name Big Ben from the giant bell inside, which chimes the famous bongs heard around London's Whitehall government district.

"I think it is a fitting tribute to the Queen and the service she has given to our country in this jubilee year," Prime Minister David Cameron's spokesman quoted the prime minister as saying.'

Britain could be attempting an overthrow of Syria, via Turkey! Heavy fighting in Capital near presidential Palace!

'The intensified clashes may indicate that a coordinated offensive may be taking place in Syria, reports Israel's Debkafile website. The attacks are apparently targeting the presidential palace and the compound of the presidential guard, the site reports.

The site says there are unconfirmed reports that British commando forces crossed from Turkey into Syria on Tuesday, according to Gulf military sources. The force may be involved in securing a safe heaven for rebel forces along the border.

Nasa designed super-insulation goes commercial: no cold no warm: rocket powering space technology... makes its way into consumer shoes, blankets, piping, refrigerators, Death Valley, Everest...

(SACNS)

'“When you hold a piece of silica aerogel, it feels otherworldly. If you drop it on a table top, it has an acoustic ring to it. It sounds like a crystal glass hitting the table,” describes George Gould, the director of research and development at Aspen Aerogels Inc.'
NASA Spinoff | 'Aerogels Insulate Against Extreme Temperatures' by Staff at unknown (accessed Today)

The aerogel has made its way into everything from blankets, to shoes, to medical assisting insulation, after Nasa partnered with Aspen Systems Inc, to create a safe version of the insulation to keep rocket fuel at  -253 °C.

The insulation was made easily, and flexibly and cheaply enough in the private sector, it now is available in shoe soles for 'Toasty Feet', which isolate against heat loss or heat gain on the soles of the feet... Toasty feet have been used in desert races, and in climbing Everest. The US military also uses the feature. The same aerogel is used to make blankets, medical applications, and insulation for piping, trucks, cars, refrigeration.

NASA has increasingly used it's advanced research abilities, to benefit American industry over competitors. It has recently helped American companies designing prototypes for supersonic business passenger jets.

(SACNS)

Fat helps stabilize blood sugar, calories say little and are a bad indicator, high sugar foods dieters seek are bad for you, fattening, cause craving... some dieting tips that actually work... below

Have some fat with your salad!

The odd claim that eating salad with low fat dressing, causes you to absorb less nutrients than a fatty dressing, and thus eat more, is a claim experts make. The odder is studies show the fat in full cream milk fulfills a similar purpose to that in salad dressing, making you healthier, and is only about 4 %. Cardiff University, found full fat milk keeps your metabolism 'fired up' (weight loss anyone?) and reduces the risk of heart disease.

Margarine: bad! Butter: good!

Margerine is the worst culprit by far... being highly processed, the digestive system and liver can't break it down, its fats are stored in our bodies, and prevent weight loss. Butter, however, is natural, largely unprocessed and can reduce heart disease, while adding that extra delight of flavour, to the less food you crave to eat.

Fat balances blood sugar: makes you eat less, and lose weight!

To stop hunger, women tend to look to anything without fat... but sugar increases heart disease risks, and makes you want to eat more, while fat satisfies the body, and makes us full... pasta fills, biscuits... hurt the diet. A bit of fat, helps dieting. Sugar, easily turns to fat... avoiding fat, doesn't mean our bodies won't make fat...

Calories don't make you fat, and are a bad indicator!

Avocado, and salmon are high in Omega 3, and high in calaries, but won't make you fat... keeping only to low calories, often hurt a diet, they aren't really an indicator of foods to lose weight!

'‘Fruit is high in natural sugars, especially tropical varieties like bananas and mango and over-ripened fruit. Go for thin-skinned fruit — such as berries, pears and apples — because they contain more antioxidants.

'Stock up on veg: You can have more than five-a-day

'‘And always eat it with a little fat (such as nuts) because this will slow down the speed at which the sugar hits your bloodstream. This will keep blood sugar levels steady — sugary foods raise them rapidly causing them to crash, which leads to tiredness and cravings for more sweet food.’
Vicki adds: ‘Many people are sensitive to fruits and fruit sugars and experience bloating, wind and abdominal pain after eating too much of them. I recommend people eat more vegetables than fruit, yet most of us do it the other way around.’'

Direct quote and general source of the rest is Daily Mail |'Everything you think you know about healthy eating is wrong!' by MARIA LALLY at UPDATED: 08:19 GMT, 25 June 2012

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2164071/Everything-think-know-healthy-eating-wrong.html

Separately: Detoxification... helps the body loosen fat, toxins and artificial indigestible substances, like in the case of margarine, often make it hard to lose weight... what the body can't process, can't easily be lost!

And I might add another... activated carbon, or a bit of fibre... if you detox your body, you lose fat faster. Activated carbon passes through our system, never entering the blood stream... and while it doesn't absorb everything, it attaches to many toxins, and takes them out of our system. There is a reason it is a poison remedy, and why it is used to filter water and purify alcohol of certain poisons, in manufacturing of alcoholic drinks.

A side story.. the politician who used his position in the Church...

The local Catholic Church had raised concerns that he was not a good president. His paternity claims scandals, hit the Catholic Church, which believed, he had used the name of the Church, as a former bishop to gain votes... he is a suspended bishop under 1333 §1 of Canon law, due to his disobedience to the Catholic faith (the Catholic equivalent of impeachment), and now has been impeached from the office he denied Catholicism for, just an Interesting side story.

Some believe that this impeachment is the sunset up Paraguay's former president,
As regards his career in politics!

Lugo was removed, after police related deaths, but likely for pushing left-wing robin hood agendas, against his political allies, also!

'Lugo's removal after nearly four years in office highlighted his inability to find a balance with one-time allies who increasingly disapproved of his leftist policies and strident, uncompromising style. The trial came a day after Paraguay's lower house of Congress voted to impeach Lugo

[...]

Franco, of the Authentic Radical Liberal Party, is now to serve out the rest of Lugo's term, which ends in August 2013. The 49-year-old Franco has political experience as a former state governor and at first had been part of a political alliance that supported Lugo.

Lugo was elected four years ago on promises of agrarian reform to help the country's many poor and landless people, but his more moderate government allies have increasingly turned against him in recent years.

Lugo's impeachment trial was triggered in part by an attempt by police to evict about 150 farmers from a remote, 4,900-acre (2,000-hectare) forest reserve, which is part of a huge estate. Advocates for the farmers said the landowner, a politician, used political influence to get the land from the state decades ago, and say it should have been put to use for land reform.

Six police officers, including the brother of Lugo's chief of security, and 11 farmers died in the clash last week. Lugo's opponents blamed the president. Lugo had expressed sorrow at the confrontation and accepted the resignations of his interior minister and his chief of police.

The president also was tried on four other accusations, including that he improperly allowed leftist parties to hold a political meeting in an army base in 2009; that he allowed about 3,000 squatters to illegally invade a large Brazilian-owned soybean farm; that his government failed to capture members of a guerrilla group, the Paraguayan People's Army, which carries out extortion kidnappings and occasional attacks on police; and that he signed an international protocol without properly submitting it to Congress for approval.

Lugo's support had steadily eroded recently, while his opponents had grown stronger, said Michael Shifter, president of the Inter-American Dialogue think tank in Washington. "It is hard to see the offenses leveled against him as anything but a pretext for removing an unpopular president," Shifter said.

[...]

Lugo's relationship with Franco and the moderate Authentic Radical Liberal Party quickly deteriorated after he was elected with their support. His partners were upset after he gave a majority of Cabinet ministry posts to leftist allies, and handed a minority to the moderates.'

Paternity Claims

'On 13 April 2009, Lugo admitted he is the father of a child conceived with Viviana Carrillo, age 26, while he was still a Roman Catholic bishop. The revelation came five days after lawyers for Carrillo announced they were filing a paternity suit against the President. Ms. Carrillo's lawyers say the boy was born on 4 May 2007. Pope Benedict XVI did not relieve Lugo from his vow of chastity until 31 July 2008.[4][5] A minor judicial investigation ensued, as it was claimed that the woman was under 18 years old when the relationship started, but the allegations were not substantiated.

'One week later, a second woman, Benigna Leguizamón, came forward in Paraguay alleging that Lugo fathered one of her children in 2002, while he was still serving as a Catholic bishop.[6] However, Lugo did not acknowledge this child as in the first case. Leguizamón then filed a lawsuit against the president demanding a DNA test.[7] Other Paraguayan bishops were reportedly informed of such allegations in 2004, but did not make them public at the time.[8]

'A third woman, political activist Hortensia Morán, appeared a day after Leguizamón and also claimed President Lugo to be the father of her child, a 16-month-old boy named for Pope John Paul II.[9] Initially, she waited for Lugo's recognition of her child. As this did not happen, she decided after seven months to sue the president.[10] The BBC reported that DNA-testing has shown Moran's child is not Lugo's.[11]

'In June 2012, Lugo admitted he was the father of a ten-year-old boy by a nurse. [12]' - wikipedia! accessed Today!

Terrorism: June to be 'Bloodiest month for Christians' in Nigeria - Boko Harem Islamists warn!

Abuja (Agenzia Fides) - Alarm in the Christian community in Nigeria after the terrorist group Boko Haram, author of several recent attacks on Christian churches, issued a threat to carry out new attacks in order to make June "the bloodiest month for Christians."

The group said it has trained about 300 suicide bombers ready to attack the Christian churches in the states of Plateau and Kaduna (southern Nigeria).

A construction site in Johannesburg (Picture by Marc Aupiais)!
As Nigeria attempts to construct a future, sectarian violence is hurting its reputation, and its national security!

The group says it has recruited the sons and daughters of Muslims killed during the recent sectarian conflict by providing weapons and bombs manufactured in Mauritania and Somalia.

Boko Haram has announced further attacks on government buildings in the states of Kano, Kaduna, Yobe and Gombe, as well as a demonstrative major attack on the Federal Capital territory, ie in the capital Abuja, to show the world that "the Nigerian security forces will not be able to stop us."

In past weeks, authorities ordered a curfew to restore order, as happened in the states of Kaduna and Yobe, with varying success.

The Christian churches ask for more protection in five states in northern and central Nigeria, object of attacks in the past. In a statement sent to Fides, the NGO Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), calls on the authorities "to respond to these threats, strengthening the protection of innocent civilians, to defuse any risk of retaliation."

According to the NGO "Boko Haram has once again shown its links with Al Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and al Shabaab militia in Somalia," therefore "it is a phenomenon that goes beyond the borders of Nigeria: International cooperation is essential to destroy sponsors, supporters and the training network." Syrian rebels using hostages as human shields, against the regular Syrian forces, Vatican warns. Vatican news agency Agenzia Fides, warns that the civilians the rebels refused to cease fighting to release, are being used by rebels as hostages. The Syrian government, under international law has cleared a corridor for the civilians to escape, but to no avail.

The Vatican English translation is as follows:

' ASIA/SYRIA - The army: "Yes to the exit of civilians from Homs," but they become human shields

Homs (Agenzia Fides) - The 800 civilians trapped in Homs are caught between the crossfire, unable to get out, exploited in the conflict, now used as human shields: is the alarm that reaches Fides Agency by representatives of the local Church committed to seeking a solution for the salvation of their lives. A faction of the rebel army holed up in the city does not want them to evacuate to avoid the Syrian army to take favorable positions with military means. As reported to Fides by the Orthodox Christian priest Fr. Boutros Al Zein, "among them there are about 400 Christian civilians, mostly elderly and women, victims of authentic kidnapping, blocked in the streets of Al Bustan Diwan and Hamidiyyeh. Civilians - he explains - were collected and directed towards the border of these two streets, becoming human shields to prevent the attack of regular Syrian forces. "

In recent days, two Orthodox Christian priests, Fr. Maximos Al Jamal and Fr. Boutros Al Jamal, tried to negotiate to free the hostages, but the initiative failed. Now the Syrian army has officially said to "allow the evacuation of civilians, without preconditions" and that it has established an exit lane. The Syrian Foreign Ministry said he had "ordered the governor of Homs to provide the output of all citizens from areas of conflict." Local Church leaders call on all armed groups " not to use innocent civilians, to facilitate their evacuation, to respect their lives and their freedom." (PA) (Agenzia Fides 19/6/2012)'
