Lyons, France: The Cardinal and the homosexual condom activists

(Tridentine South Africa ; c.f. France Catholique (French; Catholic; such status is unknown to us at present) 30 / 03 / 2009; Catholic Hierarchy on Cardinal: Philippe Xavier Ignace Barbari ; of Lyon , France ; Archdocese of Lyon Website 29 / 03 / 2009; Rorate Caeli (Catholic ; Unknown; Independent) 21 / 03 / 2009; BBC World News (Secular; British; Governmental) 18 / 03 / 2009)

As about 60 (Sixty) protesters of the likely uninformed type assembled, just before the 11:00 AM Mass outside of a Parish in front of the banner, with the Dogma denying words: " La capote, c’est la vie, l’Eglise l’interdit"(c.f. Archdocese of Lyon Website 29 / 03 / 2009) : claiming that the church, in denying the use of so-called "Condoms": was denying life, and that should have been it? Another anti-Catholic slur: largely prompted by the deathly media-bias of the Secularist French establishment: but that was not it: that was not what Cardinal Philippe Barbarin: would have it as: he wanted dialogue: and the protesters agreed to discuss their differences with the Cardinal. The protesters: were fortunately, at least faced off by some dozens of Catholics, but that also is not the story.

Of the around 60 protesters, of the Gay, Lesbian and Transsexual orientation, or at least supporting their cause, 7 requested to meet the Cardinal: to understand the Catholic position on HIV, and also: to give their own views on the delicate, and emotionally charged matter.

The debate took place in Fourvière, near the Notre Dame Basilica, in Lyon, France.

Such dialogue, was a far cry from the violent mobbing of Catholics: which has been seen in France. Such calm desire for dialogue: is also far from Catholics "singing in Latin", and throwing things at intrusive and insensitive pro-condom, anti-church activists.

The Cardinal explained the pope's words: the focus of the Papacy on societal change: on the need for love: to fight HIV: and the protesters also came to agree that there was a need of some sort of HIV education in Africa, and affected areas. There was also suggestions that the Cardinal debate the issue on Radio.

According to the BBC ( BBC World News (Secular; British; Governmental) 18 / 03 / 2009), condoms are only about 87% effective at preventing year on year transmission of the HIV pandemic from one partner, to their lover.

One of the hardest issues for the French Church: is that: not only is the faith regularly attacked: but further: its own words, as with the words of the Papacy: are regularly misrepresented. AFP, "Agence France-Presse", the French Press Association: often portrays the Catholic religion, in a very negative light. Left leaning Liberation, we recently read: even attempting to explain the actual statements of the Papacy: that is not to say that the Left Leaning paper agreed in any count with the Papacy: rather: in the interest of more accurate reporting: it seems they took it upon themselves to do so.

Most French Catholics do not attend Mass, and many of them want a church which supports abortion: more French Catholics (83% ) want a church supporting abortion, than want Benedict XVI to abdicate (43%), while 54%, want him to remain in the Vatican (Rorate Caeli (Catholic; Unknown; Independent) 21 / 03 / 2009).
