"DA to lay complaint with Public Protector about "food for votes" allegations
The Democratic Alliance has noted with great concern fresh allegations in media reports of the ANC enticing voters with food parcels in numerous provinces.
“Alarmingly, this dishonest form of electioneering is conducted using taxpayers’ money, involving officials from the Department of Social Development,” said DA spokesperson on social development Janet Semple.
“The DA has raised this issue on numerous occasions and these new allegations prove that this is only the tip of the iceberg.”
Semple said, that based on this new evidence, the DA will write to the public protector requesting an investigation into the possible abuse of state resources.
“Should any individuals wish to come forward to confirm the solicitation of votes with food parcels or any other form of social grant, they can contact Mike Moriarty at 082 492 4410 or email info@da.org.za "
